Whilst i may not post a lot :D

I had a brainwave, a brainstorm or a lighting thought...all bad non pc words...and that was, what about continental tournaments for those that don't play in the first team?

The reason behind this, was that whilst there are many under 18, 19, 20 etc tournaments such as the world cups for them and there are domestic cups and leagues, I couldn't find anything that allowed reserve and youth teams to play in Europe (just an example, can be Asia etc) on a regular basis.

Now i guess the major problem would be the requirements, as those teams in Spain do not have the same style of reserves as teams in England, so of course that would be an issue to address. But surely the plus side would be the ablity to see how those of the future, players with potential can fare on a continental scale without risking the integrity of the first team straight away and others to get a better view of how they develop, more tv time matches perhaps.

Just a thought..

Sounds like a very good idea. Would love to see how it was implemented. A bit difficult as most countries teams treat their reserves in different ways.

Yes that was the major problem I had with my own idea :S

I suppose maybe just having one, under 21 Europa League, and Champions League style that allowed all the teams to chip in, even if those players come from either reserve or youth.

yes it would be good some rising stars, maabe should be organised like current euro cups

It would be good but I don't think they would get the fanbase to match the cost.

Yea i can understand that, although I guess the more it is shown, the more coverage and fans it might receive. Perhaps it could be a club run thing? you know, clubs pay a small fee to play against eachother, not the fall amount, but like chip in so to speak

Yeah, I think if the clubs did put in some money it might work but registration could be a problem because some teams like to play reserve players in smaller european matches but if they were registered for the reserves they wouldn't be allowed to play for the first team. If it could work though it would be a great oppertunity to see youth players for the likes of Barca who never play for the first team.

Aren't reserve League's regional and different Countries have different age youth teams, for example, Italy and Spain is U20's whilst England is U18's. Italy and Spain don't have a proper reserve teams like in England. You'd have to do an awful lot of re structuring.

You could just make a registration rule that states that no player over a certain age can be registered. It would take a lot of work but I think it would be worth it in the end.

Theoretically, you could just use nations in Europe which have an actual Reserves league, and create a competition named whatever you like.

Now, add all the teams from these reserves competitions to this knockout cup.

The winner gains a cash prize for the club, of course.

Would be extremely simple to set up in the editor really.

Can't you send your Reserve team on a tour of europe or another country?
