Kind of new to fm-base therefore i have just made a story, but i have been doing my Peterborough save for a couple of weeks and i thought i would give you an insight in whats going on...
After finishing 24th in the Championship in 2008 a lot of players left including a number of stars for the club (Zakuani, Lewis etc...) but with the heartache of relegation they employed an unkown manager in Rhys Lawlor after signing a couple of players the started the new season with high expectations with the fans hoping for promotion back to the championship. Indeed this happened with Peterborough in the championship and a new board takeover and money for Boss Rhys Lawlor to spend on making this club a stable championship club they signed Robert Lewandowski, clearly an unknown player in the english leagues, but Rhys saw his potential and snapped him up in a £11m deal, Along came the others including; Anton Peterlin £40k from Everton, Adam Lallana £4m from Southampton and Jermaine Beckford Free from Leeds.
Pre season saw The Posh unbeaten including wins against;
4-1 Le Mans Union Club 72
5-1 Hibernian
3-1 Ipswich
3-0 Doncaster
Along came the start of the season with Posh raising a few peoples eye brows with a cracking win against recently relegated Burnley which saw them win 5-0. With the season moving steadily Peterborough gained top spot with very comfortable wins against Preston, Cardiff and Fulham.
January came along and Rhys sent scouts out in Brazil and came back with raving reports on Jonathan Cristaldo and Tarta, with Rhys needing a midfielder and a back up striker for his promotion bid he snapped them both up in deals resulting up to £20m.
With the season coming to its climax it was a three horse battle with Peterborough, Blackburn and Burnley for 2nd spot, with Fulham winning the league on 94 points, it went down right to the final game which saw Blackburn win 3-0 against Championship strugglers Reading, only to find out that Peterbough had beaten Championship high flyers Leicester to pip Blackburn to 2nd spot.
Rhys had obviously suprised a few managers and clubs along the way, but he always had faith in his squad from the first game of the season.
After their promotion to the Premier League Rhys and co have been looking for further additions to his squad and has recently enquired about the availability of Downing, Mattock and Diabate and have recently only failed on the availability of Mattock.
Hope you all enjoyed reading my story and i will be updating this very soon with the signings of a few players which will hopefully make my club a very stable Premier League club.
