It all began on 26 June, 2009 when the FA given a warning to Liverpool FC Board that if they are not going to reduce debt they will go to administration. A day after Hicks decided to put the club for sale as he offered all the players. The fans were upset and decided to protest, Rafa Benitez decided to protest too. The board hold a meeting with Rafa to discuss his behaviour and decided to get rid of him so he left for mutual consent. The board moved quickly to appoint rookie manager Sander Borg. The fans were upset again by the board as they thought that he doesn't have any experience to take this club. Hicks told the fans that he is only an interim solution the new owner will take the decision. On his first unveiling he said that he was immensly happy and ready to show the fans that he is ready for this job.

What were your thoughts when you had been offered this chance?
I couldn't believe it and I said I am in a dream. Its every fan dream to manage this team and I am happy to manage if not, one of the best teams in the world.
What do you think about the fans? Do you think that one day the fans will love you?
I knew that the fans wouldn't take it good, maybe this club deserves a well manager but the board decided that is better if they appoint me and then see when a consortium buy the club. And yes I think the fans will love me because they appreciate and I will do the best to love me. I want to say something to the fans I can't promise you success but I can promise you that I will do the best to bring success and first of all keep players here.
What will you change in the squad?
I will keep the squad short and sweet. What does it mean?, So I will do 2 training shedules every day 1 for the 25 players that I will Call for the Champions League and 1 for the others.
Do you have any transfer objectives ?
Yes the club needs an attacker and I made a shortlist Suarez is on the top of the list. I will sell but not everyone as the board told me that the club will try to reduce debt with merchandise.
