The same reason someone who is on £20k a year would prefer £25k a year, you could live on £20k but wouldnt say no to £25k.

If he wants a pay rise and the clubs will give it then why not. Even if he does get paid £300k the revenue he brings in is much more than that off the field let alone what he does on the field.
