This is true, I have experienced this problem with a few players over the years, Play him regularly, and Praise him as Mike says, 'Win him over' If all else fails stick a tenner in his pocket and give him a map of the red light district!

does putting him in the reserves actually work. and how can i praise him if he wont talk to me, is there a way to talk about him in the press?

Is the press option no longer available? as long as you set his status as 'not needed' and transfer list him, Placing him in the reserves should work if you really want rid of him, obviously this may take a few weeks or two so either option should do the trick, there's no short term fix unfortunately

Patience should be the key to getting him back to being able to interact with you.
