I usually tend to play rooney as deep lying forward-support alongside either chicharito or welbeck

I have him as a complete forward support, under player instructions I`ve increased creative freedom and adjusted the attacking mentality and also let him roam from position, he nets 0.6 to 0.7 goals a game and assists 0.4 to 0.5 goals a game

Like stated above I play him as deep lying forward / Attacking playmaker in the Attacking midfielder position. Then he will make the late runs into the box while enabling him to set up and dictate play for your other striker
