Breaking News

The current manager of S.C. Braga has been taking to hospital after suffering from chest pains during lunch at his home in the countryside just on the outskirts of Braga. Adriana Paciência the wife of Domingos Paciência rang emergency services just after 13:00 local time. It is thought Domingos had a heart attack and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The emergency services treating him in the ambulance were thought to have revived him twice in the Ambulance on route to the hospital, sadly he died just after.

The S.C Braga manager had released a statement on their official website.

"I am regret to inform you that our manager Domingos Paciência has died
after suffering a suspected heart attack at his family home, he was taken
to hospital but sadly couldn't be revived. Even though he has only managed
Braga for one year, he already was a great, leading us to second position
in the league in his first season. As a mark or respect the North stand will be
named after him, we will look to announce a new manager in the coming weeks.
R.I.P Domingos, a true gentleman"

After the recent death of the S.C. Braga manager, the chairman created a
shortlist of managers that he would like to see on the helm. The most surprising person on that list would be Jorge Andrade, a free agent who at the age of 32 has been riddled with injuries that have kept him out of the game, and therefore he was forced to retire. Andrade made 51 caps for his country, getting them all the way to the Euro 2004 final, where they lost to Greece.

This is what Andrade had to say after been seen shopping in the supermarket with his girlfriend. "I am very pleased to be linked with the Braga job, management is soemthing that I would like to go into, and I am pleased to now have that opportunity, I know there are other people who Braga are interested in, but if I am on the shortlist then I do have a chance."

Another name on that shortlist was the Portugal striking sensation Eusebio, although he is 68, he is a legend wherever he goes, and many Braga fans would like to see him at the club, during his time as a striker, he scored 768 goals in 799 games, which says something special about him, and there is no question about it that the Braga players would be highly motivated when working with someone like him.

"I have been linked with the Braga managers vacancy, however management is something I am not looking in to, the chairman has not yet contacted me, and I am happy with my current role as a scout, I would like to say to the Braga fans I am sorry for your loss, and hope you can find a replacement, but that replacement won't be me"

João Vieira Pinto has recently just finished playing football, he finished his career at S.C. Braga, playing 33 games for them in 2 years, a lot of fans would say he is unproven, and there has been protests about him been the manager of the club, the fans believe that it would take them downhill, rather than lead them on to glory.

Pauleta is another name that has been linked with the managers role at Braga, again unproven in the management roles, but he is high profile and a lot of fans like him, on the pitch he was known for his goal scoring ability, the negative here though is that he is very temperament and has been known to have been in a lot of fights since he has been out of the game.

Paulo Bento is the name on everybody's lips in Braga, the fans would love to see him at the club, he managed Sporting CP for 4 seasons after also playing his club football there, he made 35 caps for Portugal as a defensive midfielder, at Sporting he won 5 cups in 4 years and also was the runner up in the league cup. He also boasts a good win percentage at 60%. Mr Bento had this to say to the local news reporter at his villa "I am pleased to be a favourite for the Braga job, however if the chairman wants me to manage them, then he would have to get on the phone to me soon as I have also been linked with the vacancy to manage the national team as well. Club football is something I have been looking forward to, after recently leaving my post at Sporting CP a year ago, I would be happy to team up with Braga and hopefully bring the club forward"

After the chairman had announced his shortlist, there was a lot of activity on the Braga forums, fans discussing who they were wanting to see, Pauleta was up there, due to him been a good guy, even though he has been in a lot of fights, but the fans think that that would change should he go into management. The fans also understood what Eusebio had to say, they respect his comments and don't feel any negativity towards him even though he has said no to the Braga job, just not officially, so, who will get the managers job? ...

Saturday 27th June

Antonio Salvador, the S.C. Braga chairman, has today announced the signing of Pauleta as the clubs new manager, this news comes one week after the death of the previous manager, Antonio wasted no time in making the appointment.

"I am pleased to announce the new manager as Pauleta, after a long day and night of drawing up positives and negatives I came to the conclusion that Pauleta would be the best choice, it was a tough decision to make, but in the end I feel that I have made the correct one, hopefully he will lead us on to great things, he has been a true hero to the country, and I am looking forward to having him at the club, I will give him the time he needs and the money if he convinces me with his signings."

Reporter: "Pauleta, this is your first job in management, how do you think you will do?"

Pauleta: "I am really looking forward to this job, I had a lengthy discussion with Antonio, and I must admit I did have second thoughts about management, but he said he has full faith in me, and I am really looking forward to working with him and also meeting the players, hopefully I will do well at this club."

Reporter: "Are your family happy with your appointment? I heard you have to relocate after living in France"

Pauleta: "I had to persuade them" He says with a grin on his face. "No, I', only joking, they will always stick with me no matter what decision I chose to make, and I feel that I have made the correct one, they are happy with us moving back to our native Portugal, and they will always be by my side."

Reporter: "What are your aims?"

"Obviously I want to be realistic with my aims, we are not going to win the league in the first season, and I am sure the fans will understand that, but within 6 or 7 years I hope to have won some competition in Europe, that would be a sensational feeling, especially if it was againt my old club PSG."

"I just want to say to the fans that we may not get off to a winning start, but I am going to do my best and I hope you will be behind me all the way, and be the 12th man on the pitch, spur us on in every game and we will do our best on the pitch, I hope I can bring some success to this club"

Bit harsh killing off the manager man, but looks interesting so I'll follow

Pauleta's first day

July 1st 2009

It was Pauleta's first day on the training ground, all the players were called together by the assistant manager and were told to go meet in the dressing room, where Pauleta would be waiting for them. Pauleta came through the dressing room door and was greeted by a massive cheer. From here he could tell that the players would love him, he just had a short statement to say.

"Thank you all for the welcome, I am looking forward to working with you, and if you all give 110% then i'm sure we will do well on the pitch, I feel that I don't need to add much to the squad, there is no star players here, if you don't train well you won't play, simple, if you stand out in training then I will pick you."

Today was just going to be an easy day, a training match so he could watch all the players and not single them out. Wason Renteria stood out in training, scored a few goals and has good finishing and strength. Also Hugo Viana looked good, a few of his passes were strayed, but this is the first training of the season, and also the defence was looking solid. Pauleta was happy with the balance of young and old players, and felt that the younger ones could learn a lot from others...

Pauleta called into Chairmans office!

Two days after Pauleta's first training session, Pauleta recieved a call that night from the chairman and 22:15, the chairman wouldn't say what it was about but told Pauleta to get into his office at 09:00 the next morning (Friday 3rd July), Pauleta must have been thinking to himself all night thinking what he was called into his office for, the next morning he found out...

Friday Morning

*Knock Knock*

"Come in" shouted the chairman, "I would just like a few words with you, nothing bad, I would just like to discuss this first season of yours" Pauleta blew a sigh of relief now he knew it wasn't anything bad. "For this season I would like you to finish in the top 5, also getting to the quarter finals of the cup, the media predicted you to finish 8th, with this been your first management job, so lets prove them wrong, we have been tipped 200/1 to win the league. Also I would like to announce that I have given you a budget of 1.2million, I know it isn't a lot, but it is all I can give you right now"

Pauleta "Thanks boss, it doesn't matter about the money, I don't think I will really need it, im just looking for one first teamer, and that would be someone who can play on the left of midfield. With the squad that is already here I think we could go on to achieve great things."

"I would also like to say that I would prefer you to buy talent from South America, or home grown players, and within a few year, providing all goes well, I am looking to upgrade the training facilities around here, help you to bring through more talent."

Pauleta then went out of the room with a smile on his face...
