WENGER TO LEAVE ARSENAL

View attachment 343432

Arsene Wenger is to leave Arsenal after a dispute with the club’s majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke. It is believed that at a board meeting discussing Arsenal’s aims for this season and into the future Wenger expressed dissatisfaction and disappointment towards Arsenal’s transfer business this summer. So far Arsenal have spent over £60 million on Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Callum Chambers and David Ospina as well as selling Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona for £15 million.
Wenger is supposed to have been outraged by this business as it was allegedly done without his permission. Mr Kroenke is said to have been angered by this as this spending was surplus to the agreed transfer budget and the players brought were all agreed transfer targets for the summer
Furthermore Wenger is rumoured to have told the board he cannot guarantee a finish in the top 4 teams in the BPL nor progression beyond the group stage in the Champions league. Kroenke is said to have balked at this as he believes that Arsenal should be preforming at a much higher level than Wenger said he can deliver. Furthermore, during negotiation with Barcelona for Alexis Sanchez, a buy-back clause of just £10 million was inserted into his contract if Arsenal fail to qualify for the champions league. This represents a potentially huge loss for Arsenal if they fail to qualify for the champions league. Wenger then proceeded to display indifference towards this, leading Kroenke to terminate his contract. Kroenke is said to have already lined up a managerial replacement….

Hi guys I just wanted to post saying about the update structure of this series. I will try, as far as possible, to release updates daily up to every 4 days. Obviously since this is my first manager story it may be a little unpolished but I'll give it a go.

Not a bad start,
but you do realise you have post the same paragraph twice dont you?

Tracz: Cheers mate, didn't notice. I've edited it now, noob move by me! ;)

Its fine mate, every1 makes small mistakes at times lol,
whens the next big update?

KING TAKES OVER
Fraser King has been announced as the new Arsenal manager replacing Arsene Wenger as boss. He has agreed a 1 year contract with the Arsenal board and spoke to the media and gave interviews today, seeming ecstatic with his new job. Here is an exclusive interview between him and Martin Keown.

Martin Keown (BBC Sport): How do you feel being the new Arsenal manager?

Fraser King: I am simply overwhelmed that the Arsenal board have chosen me to carry this marvellous club forwards.

MK: Do have any specific transfer targets for this transfer window?

FK: Absolutely, I believe that the Arsenal squad is an excellent one but anything can be improved or bettered.

MK: Come on give us more than that, you’ve been linked with Khedira- Any truth there?

FK: We’re looking at all possibilities and options in a variety of positions. Khedira is a quality player that would improve any team so he could be an option.

MK: What about long term, Stan Kroenke is rumoured to be about to make a statement to the Arsenal website stating his goals and expected achievements for Arsenal FC and given how the previous manager left are you at all worried?

FK: Not at all, I’m sure any expectations that Kroenke, other board members or fans will have will be perfectly realistic and attainable.

MK: And lastly, if certain players are sold without your permission to aid finances or help make profit would that concern you?

FK: I am a manager not an accountant. I know the worth of players in the market and their value to a particular club. If players are being sold for acceptable fees to the right clubs then I have no issue. Every player has his value and no one is priceless.

And here is Mr Kroenke's official statement to the media:

“I am utterly delighted to welcome King to the Emirates stadium. This season will obviously be one of transition for King and his team as he adapts to life at Arsenal. Therefore I am willing to fully support him with a large transfer budget so he can mould the squad as he likes. However after the furore surrounding the previous manger and my expectations of him I wish to clearly lay out what I expect from Mr King and his team over the next 3 seasons.
1st Season-
BPL: 3rd or higher
Europe: Semi-finals of Champions League
If the team is knocked out the Champions league I demand they reach the Final of the Europa league
Domestic cups: A Cup Final

2nd Season:
BPL: 1st or within 3 points of the eventual winners
Europe: Final of the Champions league/ Winner of the Europa League
Domestic cups: One Trophy and One Semi Final

3rd Season:
BPL: Winners
Europe: Winners
Domestic Cups: One Trophy and One Final

After this time period I expect a minimum of 4 trophies a season and exceptional performance in all competitions. However if my objectives are not met then I will impose strict sanctions on the transfer budget, wage budget and I may even force the sale of certain players. I also reserve the right to make any signings I wish that may benefit the first team in my view- Stan Kroenke, Arsenal Chairman”

The next post will be tomorrow where I will run through pre season and any transfers I have made

Dude, that is a seriously hard challenge. The difficulty of repeating in the EPL is hard. You might think 2 dropped points in December against a bottom side is a great opportunity to remotivate your troops, but that combined with two straight losses in April and you're out of a job.

No pressure.

Enrico Pucci: I like a challenge and given the budget and transfers I have made I pretty confident that I can meet the 1st season objectives at least. After that given the money I will hopefully be able to spend I can really improve the squad's overall quality

Good luck! I always love seeing Arsenal stories (for obvious reasons c;) so THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

PRE SEASON + TRANSFERS

This was an incredibly successful albeit slightly deceptive pre season for Arsenal. In all 8 pre season games Arsenal were undefeated with some truly thumping victories. However it should be noted that I did arrange the friendlies against far weaker opposition than ourselves. I tried to secure marquee friendlies vs Bayern, Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG but they all refused due to their fixture list being " too busy ".
My Friendlies were:

Ruzomberok: 0-1 ( A )
Jihlava: 1-1 ( A )
AFC Hayes: 7-0 ( H )
Genclerbirligi: 0-8 ( A )
Kaizer Cheifs: 2-9 ( A )
Arsenal U21's: 5-0 ( A )
Aldershot: 3-0 ( A )
Kingstonian: 5-1 ( A )

The idea of these friendlies was to get squad morale very high due to the exemplary so they went into the new season full of confidence and self belief. They were not meant to be tested at all by the opponents we faced. Then we had the curtain raiser to the new season, the community shield, against Man City. Here's how we got on:

As you can see it was an incredibly tight game with plenty of goals and some rather haphazard defending from both sides. They played Zabaleta in Central Midfield and left Milner and Silva on the bench when both would be more suited to the role. Milner would be the game changer though as he came off the bench to score and win for City in the 90th minute. This was gutting as neither team deserved to win in normal time.

TRANSFERS
Central midfielder Sami Khedira has signed for Arsenal following his transfer-listing by Real Madrid. It is thought their new £23 million signing Ilkay Gundogan will take his place in the starting XI at Real Madrid. Arsenal have paid £10.75 million for his services and have agreed a 88k per week 5 year contract for the German holding midfielder. It is believed that he will slot straight into the starting XI as a defensive midfielder.
The next marquee signing for this summer for Arsenal is the wonder kid, Julian Draxler. Arsenal have paid £30 million for him and he has agreed a 5 year contract on 50k per week. Draxler has agreed a rotation squad role in the LW positon and at only 20 years old he has the potential to be amongst the world’s best. King is said to be delighted with the relatively low transfer fee paid for such a world class player.

In one of the more surprising acquisitions of this window Ronaldinho has joined Arsenal on a free transfer. He has agreed to 2 year contract on 75k per week and will add experience and leadership to the dressing room. His Arsenal teammates have spoken to the media describing how much of an inspiration he is to them.

The third signing of this window for Arsenal is the 2 year Ivory Coast striker Salomon Kalou. Arsenal have paid Lille £9.5 million for him and have tied him down to a 2 year contract with an optional year’s extension held by the club. He will provide competition for Arsenal’s No1 striker Olivier Giroud.

The last signing of the window for Arsenal is 15 year old Foday Nabay. This promising youngster impressed Arsenal’s scouting team to such an extent that the Arsenal manager was convinced to part with £550k for the player. He signed a 2 year youth deal and is thought to have potential to be one of the world’s best.

That is my pre season and transfers which took nearly 2 hours to get ready. The next update will be in about 2-3 days (I am away tomorrow) and it will cover September.

Couple of things to note:

1- I have played quite a bit into the future which is why it says Feb 2014 at the top right. If I did not do this then I just wouldn't be able to make this story due to the time constraints I have.

2- In my transfer update I thought Vermaelen had been removed from Arsenal- he hadn't. I'm really sorry and if you want me to I will sell him in the next window

AUGUST

This month was crucial for Arsenal's season with a 2 legged champions league playoff vs Besiktas and games against QPR and Man United in the BPL. Here's how Arsenal got on...

Really poor result to start the season drawing 2-2 with a QPR side that only turned up for 2 minutes. Unfortunately in those 2 minutes they had 2 clear cut chances which they scored. We were dominant throughout and should have been at least 3-0 up at half time, the stats showing how dominant we were. Giroud linked up well with Draxler for the 1st goal, perhaps a sign of things to come....

Next came the 1st leg of the Besiktas tie with Arsenal searching for the crucial away goal to put themselves in a commanding position for the second leg.Did they get the goal?

View attachment 342313
Yes they did but it was entirely undeserved along with the victory again the stats proving this. Wilshere arrived late to the box to sweep home the remnants of a Giroud header in the 11th minute but Besiktas replied with a succession of chances and were only kept at bay by a series of great saves by Ospina who was not at fault for the equalizer as Cazorla gave the ball away in midfield, allowing them to score on the counter.

Next came a absolutely huge match against Manchester United. They had convincingly won on the opening day and were looking to continue the momentum. Arsenal were tired from the midweek clash with question marks over the fitness of Giroud, Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Debuchy and Vermaelen. Martin Tyler and Alan Smith pick up the action...

MT: (11 minutes) Header in midfield by Fellani into the path of Nani but well intercepted by Mertsacker. First time ball hit for Draxler to chase how gets there. Space now for him to run into, whipped in with pace! But Jones is across to deal with it and hacks it away as he is nearly caught in possession by Kalou. Oh the clearence is terrible, straight to Ramsey! Ramsey now, through to SANCHEZ!!! The Emirates erupts as Alexis Sanchez notches up his 1st Arsenal goal!! Awful defending by Jones though Alan.

AS: Absolutely, he should just knock it behind and take the corner but instead he tries to be clever and start a counter. Easily picked off by Ramsey who can play passes like that in his sleep. Simple finish for Sanchez. 1-0, how do United respond?

MT: (23 minutes) Comfortable possession for Arsenal, working the spaces well. Draxler on the left, back to Khedira. Khedira's head goes up, takes a touch and strokes it to Ramsey wide on the right. Ramsey plays a wicked ball into Ozil who plays a wonderful reverse pass for SANCHEZ!!! But it's at De Gea, and... oh It's in the back of the net! and Arsenal have clear daylight now between them and United. A clanger by De Gea there

AS: A keeper of his class should save those any day. Almost a back pass from Sanchez as he aims to place it far post but it's a poor finish at De Gea's right boot. Somehow it isn't saved and it squirts in off the foot. But this goal is all about Ozil's sumptuous vision and skill. He doesn't even glance up as he plays it into feet without any effort. Classy by Arsenal, 2-0 and United need to sort themselves out.

MT: (45 minutes) Approaching half time now, Arsenal passing about on the edge of the United box. Draxler , motions to turn... but Shaw crunches in on him. Free kick, Arsenal. 30-35 yards out, just right of central. Ozil's eyes light up but he is told no by the captain. Angered, Ozil looks up and see's Draxler placing the ball. Thought's Alan as Neil Swarbrick organises the wall?

AS: Ozil does not look happy and quite right to. Draxler is completely unproven with set pieces and I have seen Ozil hit more than one beauty in his time. However given how central it is a curler may not be the best option.

MT: Draxler now, steels himself. Three strides in and.... OH WHAT A GOAL!!! The Emirates is truly rocking now thanks to a SCREAMER from Draxler!! Truly astounding technique and skill as he gets it comfortably up and over with De Gea well beaten. It's 3-0 and Arsenal are pretty much out of sight for Van Gaal and his men.

MT: (90 + 4 minutes) The whistle goes an Arsenal are top of the BPL after giving United a comprehensive thrashing. Arsenal were in a different class today and deserve every point. Full time at the Emirates and it's Arsenal 3 Manchester United 0

A astounding preformance from Arsenal as the squad players give United a hiding. Half the first teamers were unfit allowing the likes of Kalou, Chambers and Mertersacker a chance to shine which, to be fair, they most definitely took.

Then came the crunch clash vs Besiktas, so much on the line for both clubs. Could Arsenal cope with the pressure of being favourites?

Yes we could but it was a close run thing. A fairly regulation goal from Sanchez opening the scoring as he latched onto a deft Giroud touch to finish well into the top corner. Cazorla's whipped corner then found Mertersacker in space who calmly nodded home. Besiktas briefly threatened towards the end, getting a goal but the result was never in doubt.

Next, West Brom. Easybeats, pushovers? Lets find out...

We beat West Brom with plenty to spare. Ronaldinho made his debut and played a part in one of the Giroud goals. All 3 goals were unspectacular and the only talking point was the penalty which was a clear foul by Khedira as he upended Zaha in the box.

Next update will be in 2 days time including Everton in the BPL and the Champions League groups.
