Scout star system explanation

Scouting is surely one of the most important things in FM so understanding what u scouts tell you should be essential. Most you all, like me must have wondered what does it mean if a player has 1 golden star CA and 3 golden star PA, or if that really means he will be as good as some of your star players. Also you get that some players are worse then yours or better but with same CA, I always thought the scout is wrong . How wrong was I.

That’s why I did some researching with the help of the editor. I wrote down PA and CA of 30 players or so and scouted them with 2 different scouts, one with over 15 judging current ability/potential ability and good knowledge of the country and other with less good attributes. I found out that half a golden star represents 15 ability points and also that half a golden star potential is enough so a player improves every technical and mental ability with a few physical by 1. Later I discovered that the odds between technical and mental attribute to physical are 3:2.

For example, your scout says the player has 1 golden star CA and 2.5 star PA CAN improve most attributes for 3 points, or some by 4, or even 5 if you base your training on that specific attribute.
Silver stars don't matter, count them as 0 and from that every half golden star means one point improvement. For example. 3.5 silver star CA and 4 golden PA means ur player will improve everything by 8 more or less and probably is a wonderkid too.

Good scouts with over 15 PA and CA judging ability and solid country knowledge will always recognize how good a player is and can be.
Scouts with worse attributes will get that his potential right most of the time but they won’t put the right number of golden or silver stars in their report so you won’t be able to know how much that player can improve.

Also pay attention to the personality report, try signing players who have a professional , fairly professional or model professional personality because they improve much faster.

English ain't my native so please excuse if my senteces are weird or something,
Hope this helps you
and some of you don't miss Genie scout so much knowing this lol

sorry to dissapoint but, the stars don't represent and ca/pa as if you were at a **** team such as queens park (scottish one) then a player may get rated 3 star gold star, where as at a big team like Chelsea he would be about 3 silver stars (guess).

So they just repressent how good your scouts assume he will be for your team

By coincidence i just found something.
I was looking for regens and i found a nice DR at the Brazillian club Cruziero. Offcourse I scouted him an his PA star was 2.5 stars. Before that i had an idea to load al the -9 PA players on a shorlist to scout them all so i could arrange them by their PA star rating. After every player was scouted i got a lot of 2.5 and 3 stars and a few 3.5 stars.

But today i opened FMRTE just to experiment. The regen i bought at the Start had a PA of 191!
I found a Keeper regen with FMRTE with a PA of 182 and he was rated 2 stars by my scout.

I looked at my Shorlist and player who had a PA of 177 were just rated 2.5 starts while the few 3.5 stars rated players had a much lower PA.

Conclusion; SCOUTS SUCK
BTW: I have Steve Rowley

EDIT: Best thing you can do IMO is Eye ball the stats and hope he doesn't peak early

dont see how you can come to that conclusion on one scout. newsflash. scouts are not perfect, in game or real life. also just because he has a high PA doesnt not mean he will be a star, he may never reach that PA, his may be so unbalanced that he is actually flawed as a player

did ur scout have teh knowlegde for that country??
and if the players personality is unsporting that can mean he won't reach his potential, so the scout may be right
idk but mine always get it right and i play with a ok team in Croatian first division

the stars are different dependant on your clubs stature and reputation, and how good the scout thinks the player will be for your club - like someone said earlier, at queens park a player may be 4 gold star, but at chelsea 2 star, for example. i dont think the scouts get it right everytime, but the better ones are closest to doing so :)
