Scouting a nation?

Does anyone know how long it actually takes for a scout to complete a nation? I thought it was a week but seems to vary for me

It varies depending on several factors. The most important one is how much knowledge the scout has of the nation before the search starts. If he has full knowledge, it will go fairly quickly. If he has no knowledge, it will probably take a while.

I also think mental attributes like determination could play a role, but I can't say for sure.

Thanks for that. Any tips on signing new regens on regen dates before they sign a contract with their club? It was easy last year when you got a report back the same day

Just go to the youth intake screen (dropdown menu between search and FM menu -> Transfers -> World -> Youth Intake and choose the nation), all the big teams from a nation show up at the top of the list. Personally I go through all the regens of the top teams, and scout the ones of high value and/or good attributes. I get the report back in a day or two, before they sign with their clubs.

Of course, if a fresh regen is valued at 2m or more I instantly offer him a contract. You can do this with any player, and in the meantime you have the scout checking him out. If the report comes back and he doesn't look as good as you expected, you can just cancel the offer.
