Hello everyone!

I noticed that whatever tactic I use, my wingers always try to run and dribble even when they have an obvious back/side pass. They seem very selfish when compared to other players. Even my strikers pass back when they're out of options.

It's hard to keep possession with the wingers behaving this way because they end up losing the ball most of the time. I've played with the cut inside option but it doesn't affect their selfish attitude (it does affect the movement).

Any suggestions?

I know it depends on more factors like player attributes, the exact tactic used, etc. But maybe there are small tweaks like reducing creative freedom or something like that.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried reduce their dribbling/forward runs? Or increasing their passing?

team work, work rate and decisions tend to determine how a player would coordinate with the rest of the team, which is why i never go for players (eg. robinho, leonardo, adriano) with poor ratings for these stats

make them more through ball, i did it with cristiano ronaldo and he did more assist than i expected. 26 assist and 32 goal.

that's exactlly what I'm trying to do.. how do you do that?

i'll try support and through balls to start with. thx for your feedback!

go to player instructions in your tactic for your wingers and reduce the "run with ball" to mixed/rarely, increase the "play through balls" to often, change the passing to a more mixed style (if direct - which it should be), increase the "cross ball" to often and "cross from" to mixed and see if it makes a difference...

It might be an idea to just change one thing at a time though, starting with crossing (I'm guessing it is set to "byline" which is why he keeps trying to beat his man). Change each thing separately, i.e. change crossing first, if that doesn't work, change passing but reset the crossing to what it is now, try all individually then combo's... trial and error should help you find out what's wrong...

Great ideas! I'll definitely try those!

I thought about reducing the 'run with ball' but the truth is I still want the winger to run but only if he has free space ahead (and sometimes dribble). I can imagine that by tweaking the crossing options he won't dribble as much but will cross earlier instead of making a back pass, even though it might be the best option.

Anyway, won't know it til I try it!

Thanks a lot! :)

My My how did you get so much out of CR? I got a lousy 7 goals and 6 assists in 33 games

Anyway back to the topic, I had the same problem try having a private chat with them and tell them you would like them to play more one two passes. I tried it and it worked:)
