Serious help required, Deportivo, poor team, high expectations, **** finances.

Okay, i decided I'd challenge myself with Deportivo La Coruna, however, they are in a debt crisis and have a very POOR team considering the minimum expectation for Top Half finish. I decided to restart afresh as after 9 games my team had got a total of 4 points. I didn't use any wingers in the tactic as I sold guardado for a very good fee of 16.5million to Man City, but did not receive any of it from the board to get new players.

I usually can manouvere 6.5million or so from my board. I signed in my first season the best freebies I could, though list your best ones aswel seeing as I may have missed some. eg. Goncalves, merlo, julio cruz.

Im at a loss really, I signed Leandro Damiao for 3million who didnt score any in 9 games, yet it could be due to the lack of creativity in the midfield. I also signed Badelj for 3.5million and he became unsettled and played around 6.5 average only.

So basically this team need a total revamp in midfield. Old or just plain bad players, and the only way to remedy that is to sell some of the overpriced in value strikers Depor have. I usually sell Riki for 4million and I also try sell many of the dead weight. The biggest being Valeron at 20k per week and being terrible against any sort of fit team.

Ideally considering the sales I have to make to get some improvements to midfield. I need 1 creative midfielder, 2 wingers, 1 dynamic box to box or ball winning midfielder and a very good if not prolific striker, for the La Liga mid table finish with around 6.5million budget.


Any help would be great. Really struggling for the first time in Fm11, it's fun though.

Deportivo is a good challenge, I started with them and brought them back up to their early 2000's Champions League glory stage and winning the league after the 3rd season and clearing a lot of their debt! but I had Adrian back then and he is a good striker...

1) what tactic are you using firstly?
2) can you get more than £6.5m after selling a few players? or does every cent go into the club?
3) I would look at loan signings (free loan signings) and through some of these threads below

but I will highly suggest getting these players as soon as possible:

I'd try signing some youngsters on loan. Jonjo Shelvey (Liverpool), Alan Dzagoev (CSKA Moscow), Thiago (Barcelona) or Sergio Canales (R. Madrid) should add some creativity to your team. Also, Canales usually gets listed later in the game, so keep an eye on him. Milan Badelj (Dinamo) would also be a good choice, but he might be too expensive.
Sebastian Leto (Panathinaikos) might be worth a look at for your left wing.
For the striker position, get Vaclav Kadlec (Sparta Prague). Problem solved. Be fast though, Man Utd usually snap him up quite fast.
Can't think of any midfielders atm.

Okay, First time I attempted Deportivo, I played Narrow diamond with Damiao and Adrian up front. This was not good mainly due to the lack of a "destroyer" type player -i think. Deportivo have a very very weak team physically. They're ageing and their only good attribute is decent passing to be blunt. The main issue with loans is the wages. I can't afford anything over 20k per week and that is if the player is a brilliant player. If they're just "good", then I'd only be able to offer up to 15k. I'm mainly looking for at least one combatant midfielder already able to do the business - or is Coeff already able to at 18? 450k for that potential is definetely alluring.

look at Mangala - Std Liege as well! maybe loan in Mudingayi or even buy him for around £2m for a tackling/combtant mid

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've enquired about Mangala and tried a loan for Maxime Gonalons from Lyon for my combatant midfielder area. I'm in the process of selling some players, in which I will end up definetely purchasing Madureira. He's too good for 700k and those wages! I hate to say it but im too proud an FM player to go for Kadlec for the millionth time. Chramosta and Willian look interesting. Who is most prolific? And does anyone have possibly any other strikers that'll definetely get goals. I have to say I'm a shameless Damiao fan but he's expensive and didn't do so well last time.

Chramosta scores every game, Leeds bought him in the 3rd season when they got promoted and he scored 2 gls in his 1st game vs Everton or Sunderland for a 3:1 victory...

I have all but signed Chramosta and Dureira. Man City came in again for Guardado. Hopefully the board don't take all the guardado fee... Then I'll be able to strengthen centre mid.

Okay, I got an offer I couldn't refuse for Adrian... 4.2million, I got lucky and got Santa Cruz on loan for just 160k and I pay only 10% of wages. So, With the 4.2million I'm going to search for an Right sided Winger. I currently have that position and midfield destroyer to fill, then I am ready for the season to start.

try see if you can get Harry Novillo - Lyon (normally around £1.8m is sufficient, great winger)

maybe even Sebastian Blanco - Lanus, loan James Rodriguez from Porto?

Probably have to go for Novillo, currently covering all my 3 non-EU spots. I signed Cirigliano due to readong one of your posts, even though he may not be brilliant short term, new mascherano possibility is drool-worthy for a team like Deportivo. Thanks again Raikan! I'll check 'em out.

Okay, thanks Raikan. I have sorted out my team and used alot of your advice. In then end I signed, Chramosta, Santa Cruz (Loan with option to buy), Okonkwo, Abubakari Yakubu, Jose Goncalves, Omar Merlo, Harry Novillo (Loan, no option to buy - they wanted 9.25,mil ), Madureira and Cirigiliano.

Financial benefits - Profit overall for club - 22million. Wage budget slashed by 43k. Overall, a better team to play with!

Alexandre Coeff is great. juts train him at DM and AM postions and he's be a versatile player in the middle.
