Serious Problems

I am having serious problems with FM11.

I'm a long time player of CM4, with an AC Milan career, with 13 consecutive Serie A titles and 30ish assorted trophies in 13 seasons, a Bayern career with 8 consecutive Bundesliga titles and 7 Champions Cups in 8 seasons, plus successful Falkirk, Madrid and Zenith careers, all with fairly average squads. I got FM11 as an "upgrade".

I have successful pre-seasons (I haven't lost a pre-season match in my 5 attempted careers). I create a tactic/formation, let the players adjust to it and I'm set for the season, with a gelled team with high morale. Then it starts. I score on average 0.5 goals per game, losing most, with the occasional 1-0 win creeping through. My squad has around 20 shots on goal, around 5 on target. The opposition gets around 5 shots, all of which are on target. No matter the player or squad, they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. I thought this was maybe a bug, so I downloaded the 11.3 patch. No difference, except the opposition squads are better.
I beat Juventus with AC Milan 4-0 in pre-season. I then lost 5-0 to the same Juventus sqaud with the same AC Milan squad in the league. I even lost 5-0 to Bari....found myself 16th with 1 win and 7 defeats.

How can a tactic and team that function to near perfection in pre-season fail so drastically in the league?
I'm at my wits end with this damned game, any help, in any shape or form is much appreciated. Please.

Welcome to the club! I do admit I love this game but that 20 shots and 5 on target is a game normalityfrom what I hear! Some of the lads have actuall helped me out with a similar problem! Adjust your mentality to either counter for away and standard or controll for home. Get used to the missed chances its frustrating but it is kinda invitable! Tweek your team instructions be patient and prepare for every match and hopefully result will start going your way! Again patience and preparation

I'm sorry to say that your problem is the tip of the ice-berg for me, I've got my fair share of frustrations with this game as well. Only tip i can give you is to endure them. Your problem is something i have on a regular basis and have not found a solution for it, doubt there is one.. think it's how the game is meant to be or something. Played through 4 seasons with my current club, trying to tweak tactics and instructions to perhaps get a few more goals. It's futile.

I disagree I had a similar problem with liverpool I just couldn't score though I managed atleast 4 clear cut chances and 20+ shots and in pre-season I dominated! I had to mes with player instruction aswell as team instruction time consuming yes but its part of being a manager. I do believe that 20+ shots and missin 75% is ridiculous being that these are "professionals" we are simulating but its something to dealwith! Look through out these forums and there is lots of help use it and it may aliviate the issue or fix it!

A had the same kind of thing and a read on this that try using work ball into box from manager shout and it worked alot and a ended up going from 14th to winning the league a was roma btw.
