My Manchester United team is in its second season, 3 points ahead with about 10 games to go, and I play a short passing, high defensive line, balanced attacking, pressing, narrow game.

I normally do pretty well but I sometimes struggle against some opponents when they just defend and I think it's due to my tempo bar being completely slow.

Thinking of swapping it round to fast and seeing how it goes?
But will they still play attractive short passing football or will they short pass it around then take 20+ long shots a game?

Have you tried playing with lots and lots Of more Width instead. If doing so and not having the sliders tweaked, I think that the tempo and Width Will suit you fine when facing these deep sitting and compact teams.

I agree, slow tempo is a whole lot better for me. Maybe you need an advanced playmaker and teach him how to play killer balls. Also restrict your're team from doing longshots.
