I currently play a 4-2-3-1 with the CM's being CMs (not DCMs) but am conceding too many from breaking through my midfield. I dont want to switch the 2 CMs back to DMs as I like to play an offensive, possession based game.
I already have one DLP set to Defend and the other CM set to a Box-2-Box or a CM-Defend but this player isn't really effective and doesn't offer anything to the defensive side. (I don't like the BWM as they go walkabouts)

So I was wondering, is it ok to play 2 DLPs in the CM pairing with one set to Defend who literally sits and sprays (think Pirlo) and then the other set to support who also sits fairly deep but can get forward (maybe a Xavi). I already have an AP in my CAM position.

I did have this set-up with my Real Madrid team but the league is so easy I wasn't sure how much of an impact it had. Pro's and con's of this???

i've played it with great sucess, with Kroos and Toure, just make sure they can still put a tackle in and have a decent work rate

Okay thanks mate, will try Thiago Alcantara and Kovacic there and see what happens.

Try DLP defend with BWM auto ...

Ive had great success with his combo (... plus an AP further upfield).

Or if people break through your middle pull one cm back and sit him in front of your cbs as an anchorman (or even a dlp defend).

One of the approaches I go with when playing with a midfield triangle is to have a sitter, a runner and a creator. Your Advanced Playmaker will count as your creator. You can play with two Deeplying Playmakers as long as one is on support and the other is on defend. But as suggested above make sure one is capable of putting a tackle in.

I play like this - 1 anchor man, 1 DLP and 1 BBM. Works great for me. Specially when I have the best AM and BBM of the game
