I'm playing Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship, and just brought Mohamed Bangura in on transfer from the Celtic... now that I've got him, he's got the dreaded "WP" in red on his status. With 11 international appearances he should be eligible for a work permit, but I can't figure out how to apply. Am I missing a menu option or something? Thanks.

I dont think work permits are based on number of international games played.

The fact you were able to sign him though means you have an affiliated team which you can loan him to to gain a work permit quicker

No go there, my affiliate is Dartford, a Skrill Premier league club. Could be a bug, but I saw a new feature allowing players to be signed without work permits. Maybe this is some of that.

Apply for a feeder club to send him to for gaining a work permit. Send him there so he gets first team football. Usually they say it will take 3-5 seasons to gain that clubs nationality but if at the end of the season he has added to his international caps - think he needs to play something like 60% of his country's 10 most recent games to get a wp - then instead of loaning him out for a second season to the feeder club, just offer him a new contract - if he has fulfilled the wp criteria then when his new contract is signed he will no longer have the dreaded wp box next to his name 2-4 seasons ahead of schedule. Nice little loophole.

Signing players without a permit has been possible on previous games.

The criteria is (don't take my word as gospel as doing this from memory) the player must be from a nation whose national team are ranked in the top 70 on FIFA's rankings and the players must have played in 75% of his nations competitive matches during the previous 2 years.

injuries are taken into consideration, as are players deemed "special talents" by the panel deciding whether to award the permit.

thanks guys. In the previous two versions I thought the transaction would be cancelled upon failure of appeal. Maybe I did something different this time... there was no attempt at a work permit on signing. Ah well.

On previous versions (and I assume this one) you get a notice saying the work permit was unsuccessful but it gives you the option to sign the player anyway. It is a very easy news story to miss as yours eyes naturally such for the button that says 'sign this player'
