Signing retiring players to coaches

I'm at Tottenham 1st season, and I have persuaded Cudicini to becone a coach once his career is over. His coaching stats show that he has GK coaching 20, and I would like to sign him as a GK coach as soon as his contract ends, but it looks like I just can sign him as a player, not coach. What should I do?

If he has coaching stats then surely he can be offered a coaching position? Although he probably doesn't want to retire yet so maybe offer him a player/coach job? The only problem with that is they want players wages... Or just wait until he retires.
