keep gettin message off assisant "the gap between my midfiend and defence is to big and can be exploited" postioning of players doesnt seem to always effect this e.g. using 2 DM's.. wondering what the solution is.. probably more simple than i imagine

It depends what formation you're playing. If you have two central midfielers then try changing the mentality of one of them to defensive.

As long as you're getting the results though, it doesn't matter what your assistant says.

No started gettin a poor run of form and this tends to be the problem... some individual tinkering is probs whats needed.

Three solutions really - have a DM who plays like a DM (so no 'Forward Runs' set to 'Often' and at most a 'normal' mentality), have an MC who has a low mentality and forward runs set to rarely or have a DC who has a high mentality and forward runs set to mixed or often.
