The whole football world is in shock today as arguably the greatest Manager of all time has been sacked and replaced with an unknown talent. Sir Alex Ferguson's reign of Manchester United ends today after 24 Years after a disagreement with Chairman David Gill. However if Sir Alex being sacked was a big shock imagine the shock when David Gill announced his new manager would be unknown football analyst Scott Whittingham.
Scott Whittingham is a former Semi-Professional footballer born in Derby, his promising career was ended at the tender age of 19 due to a serious knee ligament injury. Scott however stayed with football and gained his degree for football analysis a few years later graduating from Manchester University. He has recently worked for clubs around the world analyzing matches and personal traits. Whittingham is a keen Manchester United fan and did is whole University study on the club.
Whittingham had this to say on his signing of a 2 year contract.
"I am very pleased to be here, this is my dream job and i have always dreamt of this moment since i was a young lad. Success is in the blood of Manchester United and i hope to get the train started at the Community Shield against Chelsea on the 9th of August. I am a very tactical manager and like to tinker my formations and set ups around to match the individuals that are fit and depending on what opponent we play. I intend to be involved in all areas of the club, whether it be Scouting, Transfers, Training or overseeing the Youth team and the Reserve team. I will be looking into bringing in a few new players and staff members, changes will not be too drastic though as i feel Sir Alex have provided a great stepping stone for the club. I hope for the best for the club and i hope the fans can get behind me and show me the faith which they gave Sir Alex during the first year of his tenor"

Pre-Season Report

Scott Whittingham has endured a great pre-season start to his managerial career, amassing 5 wins and 1 drew from 6 games, the most high profile victory came against Bayern Munich. Scott had this to say about his pre season:
"Pre-season has gone great, i couldn't of wished for a better start for my managerial career. 6 games unbeaten for us now and the team is starting to gel more and more each game. I have used a simple 4-4-2 tactic during pre season focusing on attacking, however against Bayern Munich i tried out a 4-3-2-1 tactic which worked to perfection. I am hoping to use this tactics against the bigger teams in the Premier League and in the Champions League. I am now looking forward to the Community Shield against Chelsea and i feel we can regain the trophy."

There were a number of players which performed well during Manchester United's Pre-Season, most notably new signing Javier Hernandez scoring an impressive 3 goals in 2 Starts. He had this to say about his experiences during Pre-Season:
"I find it very hard to change style over here, here is must quicker paced and much more physical then in Mexico, I am very pleased with my start and hope i can play in the league"

Manchester United Lift First Trophy of Whittingham Era

Wayne Rooney's 61st minute individual effort was all Manchester United needed to beat their close rivals Chelsea in the Community Shield.
The first trophy of the 2009/2010 season goes to Manchester United and new manager Scott Whittingham.
"I am very proud of this moment. Many people have underestimated my talent and have said that i will fail at this club, I have no experience and I will ruin the United name. Yet i have pulled of this so called shock and sealed the first trophy of the season, and mark my words it will not be the last trophy."

Transfers

James Milner - £26m
"I am happy to announce the signing of James Milner from Aston Villa, many people have doubted this transfer and said it is way too much to be paying for an England Under 21 International, however i feel he will help our team in the run for the title and his versatility was one of the main reasons i brought him here as he can play on the wing or in the middle of midfield."

Alexis Sanchez - £15m
"I am happy to announce the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Udinese, he is an exciting prospect at just 20 years old, he has 23 Caps and 7 Goals for his country Chile and I am looking to bed him into the team as soon as possible whether it be on the wing, behind the forwards or upfront."
