Slow 2 player / multiplayer game?

Hi all. Is anyone experiencing very slow gameplay when playing 2pl / multiplayer? I had this with fm2010 and thought it was the norm. My friend is 'the server' and it takes 5-10 seconds to navigate in and out of screens. The player screens are the worst which makes it difficult to search and add to shortlists etc. very time consuming. My 1plyr game is v.quick. Any thoughts please? Also when i have tried to set up as 'the server' myself he cant find my ip add . Yet i can host left 4 dead etc. Is this a port fwd issue? I have tried with all protection off too. Please help!

download a programme called logmeinhamachi and make a link between the 2 pcs then leave this program open in the background and u should be able to run as server as it willgive you a new ipaddress

If you are two (or more) playing, the game-speed is influenced by your friends internet speed.
So:
A slow host, a slow game.
I tried playing with a mate on fm2010, and yet it was still bad. I don't know why, it just is...

Thanks guys. Will Hamachi be ok with Steam? Also, we did test on both our conn spds - A grade - 25ms ping, 2ms jitter, 0 packet loss. V.good int conn's. I think it must be the game. Now you've said that. Thanks for reply!
