Solution To The Patch 11.2.1 Match End Crash Problem!

I finally found a way to play my game normally again, YAY, and i thought you people should also deserve to know it, so well you can use this trick, until SI gets a fix to the new problem, however, i haven't seein any such problem if you keep on using this trick.

So well, all you have to do is the fm.exe which you use to start the game, you can see that it shows its version 11.2.1, right? (reply me if you can't see it), now if you have an older fm.exe with you, for example, the best suitable would be fm.exe of the version 11.1.1, just copy that over ur existing fm.exe, and play, thats all, ur game will be workin porperly now, you could play them game, no crash after the game end, YEAH! Just go try it! if you are confused or face any problem, reply me here, and yeah if you don't have any older version of the fm.exe version then you can tell me any site, where i could upload it 4 u to download, now go and ENJOY the game we ALL LOVE!

This is not cracking. Cracking is altering an official .exe so the game runs without a CD check for example.

nope, this isn't cracking, because i haven't changed anything in any of the file. to make it simpler, when i updated my game to patch 11.1.1, i made a copy of the fm.exe elsewhere. and then when the new update 11.2.1 came and i updated my game, it started having this game end crash thing, so all i did was to rename the 11.2.1 fm.exe to fm.exe.back (until SI gives out an official patch) and copy the 11.1.1 fm.exe into the game folder. so al lit does is that the game is updated with 11.2.1 files but since i run the 11.1.1 fm.exe, it runs the 11.1.1 settings and files, etc.

Ah, I didn't think your computer kept old FM.exe files thats all
Assumed the patch operation would completely remove the old file and replace it
Still don't know why your game crashed anyway, maybe you just need to re install the newer patch?

it doesn't keep a copy itself, i reinstalled the patch, the game itself again and again but this crash was persistent, so i just made a copy of the old fm.exe while reinstalling the game, and my hunch worked.
And yeah i am 100% sure, its not a fault with my pc, my game, or my patch because numerous people are having this problem, so its a problem with the 11.2.1 patch, and SI got to fix it.

i haven't tried it with steam, so i don't know, but i can't think of any reason why it shouldn't work? because this doesn't alter any settings or something, and you can atleast try it, there are only two possibilities, either it will be re-updated by steam to 11.2.1 and you will be stuck with the same problem you presently have or either you will have the game working.

I think if you are playing by installing the game from the disk (rather than steam), if you still have the 11.1.1.patch/hotfix. You could uninstall the game and then reinstall and patch back to 11.1.1. However I don't believe if you are playing via steam you can do it as it updates straight to 11.2.1 regardless.

Change the original post that you made.
Maybe make it into a step by step so that it is easier to read.

just extract this zip file to your game folder, thats it, now your game will be working, without any match end crashes.

Note: if you are still unsure that this might corrupt your game, just copy the fm.exe already present in your football manager 2011 folder to another folder and name it backup, then extract this zip to your game folder and overwrite your fm.exe file, so if any doubts occur in you mind later, all you have to do, to revert back is to, delete this file i gave you from your game folder, and copy back the original file from the backup folder.

Now Enjoy!

And yeah fm.exe is the main file of your game, lol, but you don't have to worry about that, just go to the football manager folder and do as i said above and all will be good.

can an 11.2.1 save run on your 'fixed' FM ? I'd assume that the old .exe is an 11.1.1 file and so only 11.1.0 saves will work, 11.2.* won't

it just shows that its running the 11.1.0, however, you can play the 11.2.* games in it, like i started my save game which was started in the patch 11.1.1, and after installing the 11.2.1 patch, i wasn't able to play due to the mentioned problem, but then i used the fm.exe of 11.1.0 and i am playing through it, even though my saved game was initialized in 11.1.1 patch.

you're not running an 11.2.* save, you're running an 11.1.* save with an 11.1.* exe which should work... if you had created a new game in 11.2.* I'm fairly certain that wouldn't work with your 11.1.* exe and I'm also fairly certain that you are not getting the benefits of the 11.2.1 patch by using the old exe.

All you've done is 'roll-back' to the previous patch, which is good because you can now play the game but also bad because you haven't got the benefits of the update. (which I realise you hadn't got anyway - for the record ).

hmmm yeah, you maybe right, because i haven't tried using a 11.2.* game with this, so it might not work, but if anyone wants to volunteer in trying it out, he is welcomed. And yeah i am not getting the benefits of the 11.2.1 patch but what are the use of those benefits when you can't even continue the game and are stuck on ending a match. Atleast i can play now, lol.
