Yeah I just started a thread but it got closed, thing is I still don't understand :(

I was asking about how to start a game using a custom database that I have downloaded, and somebody said to click a box at he bottom of the screen to select a diferent data base (Thanks for the help by the way)

Problem is I can't see that box/option, and I am just led into starting a game on the old standard database.. Anybody?

Cheers in advance.

okay.. you open FM, click new game, then a box pops up asking what database you want to load... if you have the 11.3 patch it will say Football Manager 2011 11.3.0 or something along those lines, theres a box you have to tick if you want to load databases in the bottom left hand corner... tick that, and then you should be able to handle it from there

Cheers for the reply.

Erm, when I click 'new game' it just takes me straight to the 'select nations' screen, and I can't see anywhere there to change the database?

The database I've downloaded is one of the summer ones off here :)

where have you put the file?

i dunno why it does that, it should look like this:
footballmanager2011cred.png

Then the box in the bottom right where it says 'change', you have to tick that to choose your database

it should be in the editor data folder

Oh, no I don't get that box at all, just takes me straight to select nation..

Do I have to change something somewhere else to give the option to use custom databases maybe?

It needs to be in the editor data folder, not the db folder.

Oh right, thankyou, for that do I need to download an editing program, or is that a default folder?

Once it recognises there are multiple databases do you think it will then give me the option to choose?

yes. It should already be there, but if not, just create the folder and call it editor data

You don't need to download anything, if you don't have the editor data folder in your Sports Interactive Folder, then simply make one and move the edited DB to that folder.

When that is all done and you attempt to start a new game, that box will come up that was mentioned earlier for you to tick or untick accordingly the editor data that you wish to use.

okay... so when you get to the select nations page here, choose the nations you want, then look at where it says 'New Game' you will see just underneath there are 2 tabs, one of them says 'select editor data files', if you click that, it will come up with a list of databases you have downloaded, then once you are on there, you tick the box and continue, that should be you sorted

edit: redrup is right, just use this way if the box doesn't show up.. it should though

Right, I've just updated the game to v11.3, and now when I start new game it asks which database, I'm just gonna use the Januray one from the update.

Cheers for the help :)
