I started a new save with a semi-pro club in the Norwegian lower leagues. I started mid-season and within a week, the club was bought by an English guy. Despite fear over me losing my job (a week in!) they have given me a chance. This worked well for both parties as we ended up getting in to some pretty good form and finishing 7th (I think).. The old manager hadn't put is in a great position with relegation looming and the board seemed pleased with what I'd done.

When the transfer window came, I let all of my big earners run out of contract as I don't like to be pushing my wage budget. With new re-enforcements in, I have a very strict control over wages, something the board seem to adore...

Yet we're predicted big losses in the future and whilst trying to sign 1 or 2 backup players for the season ahead, my board warn me that we're not in a good financial position..

What's going wrong and how can I solve it?

Your wage cost last season were 197K and after looking at your income tab, 71% of your income came form the "other" option. That's money coming in that you can't account for and is not regular.

your regular income only covers about 50% of your wage cost.

  • Your gate receipts cover 5%
  • season tickets cover 1.6%
  • TV revenue covers 6.5%
  • sponsorship deals cover 43%

There is still roughly 100k that's being spent a year that is not accounted for.

In your wage costs, you're spending as much on staff wages as you are on player wages. Unless your staff are excellent that's way too much.
Your bonuses are under control so that's not too bad

First thought is to agree with Brendn there, you'll need to trim down on your staff, I'd then look to your appearances, who's not seeing game time and is on too much money to justify his teams position? Get rid of him. It may seem obvious but at clubs like yours having a small squad is vital! Players that can play in a variety of positions instead of having 2 or 3 that can specialise in each.

SI have sorted the little 'cheat' way of playing 20-30 friendlies against huge teams this year unfortunately or you wouldn't have to worry about any of this. Hope this helps.
