Southampton Football Club is an English football team, nicknamed The Saints and based in the city of Southampton.

The club were relegated from the Championship in 2009, and play in League One in the 2009–10 season. Their home ground is the St Mary's Stadium, where the club moved to in 2001 from The Dell.

The club has won the FA Cup once, and their highest-ever league finish was second in the top flight in 1983–84.

On 8 July 2009 the club was purchased by German-born Swiss businessman Markus Liebherr.

The Present:

"hollywoodAM" takes charge at Southampton F.C.

St. Mary's Stadium and the Saints supporters are in disarray and will certainly be hoping that the newly appointed Manager can somehow get there team out of this thirty-three year barren spell... and back to winning cups and competitions!

The Future:

"hollywoodAM" responded to the question, "What next?", with the following: "A complete restructuring of Southampton F.C. will commence, changes will be made and results will prove that this club has a lot more than what it is currently showing."

Follow my story as I make Southampton F.C. a World Class team in 8 seasons!

Pre-Season (2009/2010):

Pre-Season, July 2009, results were as follows...

pre09_results.png

As you can see, the Everton defeat was a big embarrassment for us, reasons for the result:
. New Manager
. Complete newly selected staff
. New tactics
. Continues hard physical training

Players that made an impression were:
. L. Barnard (ST, 25 years old, 4 goals)
. L. Holmes (AML, 22 years old, 1 goal, 1 assist)
. J. Puncheon (AMR, 23 years old, 2 goals, 1 assist)
. K. Davis (GK, 32 years old, 4 clean sheets)

Other than that, was a good preparation for what needs to happen next. We focused on the 4-4-2 diamond (4-1-2-1-2) tactic, and as we've only played six games with this current tactic, we'll still try it out a few more games into the season.

The transfers for the season 2009/2010, players and staff, are shown below:

As we want to make sure that we have enough funds in the future, no real expensive transfers has been made. We believe with our current players, we'll be able to get promotion back to Championship League.

The reason for the complete restructuring of staff was a joint decision made by me and the Swiss Chairman, Markus Liberherr, who also only joined the club recently.

August - October 2009 objectives:

. Get rid of our 10 point deduction in first 5 games
. Win at least 65% of our games
. Top 10

I have bought keiren westwood in my 1st sesaon, he was amazing and he still is. I am now in 5th season, and he is still my firsth choice between the post. I am in the Premiership. When you get promoted, bid Ledley, future star in my game. He is fantastic!

looks good would be great to see Southampton back to the big time and am sure you can deliver this

It's the end of October 2009, three months down the line for Southampton F.C. in the 2009/2010 season.

New Manager, "hollywoodAM", gave us his opinion: "A very difficult period we find ourselves in, but there's only one way out, and that's by staying positive, re-building those foundations, even if it means we'll be losing a few games..."

Results were as follow...

oct09_results.png

Statistics highlights:
. Lost first game against Millwall 3 - 0 in Coca-Cola League 1
. Lost in second round of League Cup against Sunderland 2 - 0
. Lost in second round of Johnstone's Paint Trophy against Hereford 1 - 0
. Big wins against Brentford (3 - 0 and 2 - 0), Charlton (6 - 1) and Leyton Orient (4 - 0)

Outstanding individuel performances:
. L. Barnard (ST, 16 goals in 19 games)
. K. Davis (GK, only conceding 23 goals in 19 games)

League Table inserted as an attachment...

Other news:

. D. Hammond was selected as captain, M. Ball as vice-captain
. Same tactic is still being used as stated in beginning of season, players are reacting well and getting comfortable
. Chairman,
Markus Liberherr, made a cash injection of 13,5 million pounds
. M. Schneiderlin, A. Lallana, D. Hammond and L. Barnard recieved monthly awards
. Manager, "hollywoodAM", came runner-up as best Manager of the League in September
. No other transfers were made, a complete history of all transfers will be published at end of season

Results on objectives:

. Took us 6 games, one more than planned, to get rid of the 10 point deduction at beginning of season
. Won only 53% of our games
. 16th on the log

New objectives for the next three months, ending January 2010:

. Finalise and renew all wanted player contracts, new signings for next season will also get attention
. Top 10 on table
. Building team spirit and winning more games, 60% winning rate will be the target

And a final word... ALL SUPPORT SOUTH AFRICA (BAFANA BAFANA) TONIGHT AGAINST URUGUAY!!!!
