Hi all. This is my first post here at FMBase, but have been reading and browsing threads for some time.
I've been relatively successful managing Spain in the past, but have decided to start again from scratch. The Spanish national team is pretty versatile and can accommodate many different formations and strategies, due to the availability of many decent/good players in almost every position.
Considering how the Spanish team have a number of brilliant midfielders and forwards, I presume that many people would prefer to maximise these strengths by fielding only three defenders. Personally, I tend to always have four defenders included in my defensive line.
Considering how, as manager of Spain, you'd have access to the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Xabi Alonso and David Silva in midfield, whilst having the options of Torres, Villa and Raul up front, what formation and tactical strategy would you use? What roles and duties would you assign to the midfielders in particular?
It'd be great to see what ideas and suggestions you have, along with any success you've had with Spain in the past/present. Thanks.
