Hi,

Just wondering whether these special moves, such as shoots with power etc, actually do anything to the players performances, or whether it is a smokescreen, or red herring if you would?

Anyone got any ideas on this please?

Thanks,
Jacko

yes they do have huge difference, if used properly they can hinder or help you

looks good ty for link. but is there some hidden stats for this aswell?, seems lik that even if you train 2 players the same way with very close to the same stats they do not play it the same way? for me and the tac i prefer ( w/ braca) i can gt henry to do some pure magic passes and dribbles... but i've nevr been able to get any other player to preform in the same way, he seems by far the most creativ player i've found or been able to train so far. using heel passes or making laudrup like lobpasses is good but i can't get any1 else to do it QQ

P.S and is there some way to get a player to train something he say no to anyway? getting stevan J to not be offside 8times a match would be nice but he flatly refuses to learn to beat the offside trap?

no if they dont want to learn you cant make them, generally its because they feel it goes against their game

The hidden stats used for PPMs are not hidden at all, they are 'moves' or 'traits' which the player is more likely to do if he has them.

I.e. "Likes to beat offside trap" means he plays close to the last defender looking for a through ball. I don't believe it gives him a greater chance of actually breaking it than he would without the PPM, just a greater chance to perform the move.

so if i make an clone of henry in the he should play the same way.... He does not, so there must be something more than visible stats and pref moves that influences how he plays

yes, the hidden attributes..

I think it's random as they have people despite their awful attribute performing along. It's luck and random.

Having good attributes just make it less random but Henry is just playing well.

Concerning the attributes, you could make someone with that preferred move tutor the player and they could gain those preferred moves.

Well, that's part of the fun of the game, you never know how a player reacts until you try him out, if you just make 'another Henry' then in my opinion you devalue Henry's brilliance:)

Just to recap, if your clone the stats and PPMs the player will play in a similar way. Lots of other issues such a form, opposing player's form, confidence, match stats and so on,, the hidden stats have a small effect on the success but they won't make the player play in an entirely different way.

The best advice to make someone play in a similar way is to use tutoring to your advantage. I had Iniesta train Ramires and they effectively are interchangeable now, Iniesta is better, but the PPMs he past on are invaluable for Ramires to play in the advanaced midfield position.

true that, but having to make uninformed guesses is a bad thing in my world stuff like having to watch a player 10 times to figure out if he playes as a winger or an inside forward is just a waste of time, i'll just remember who plays like what and start a new game( and that is not replay value, the abillity to play forevrs is) and after 20gams i'll b able to build my squad to play the beut game that i want instead of being able to do so from game 1. and while there is a danger of making it to easy (see development of WoW) the interaction between stats alone should be sufficiant to expel that fear. at the vary least they should be revealed over time and we should be able to train them as well as the normal stats/PPM or at least give hints in the scout report-- AML scout says he plays best as winger/inside forward-- ST plays best as targetman/Complete forward etc etc E.G Danish Martin Jørgnsen used to be a great winger but got retrained to play as a MC playmaker when he got old and slow. in this game retraining Keita from wing to MC does not seem to change a thing about how he plays there is a reason chess is considered the best game ever made, there is no luck there is but SKILL.
