We definitely were right to do so, because;
1) He is clearly a player we need. People point to his assist/goal ratio as some sort of indication of averageness, forgetting that Xavi had only 3 goals and 7 assists last season, and that was in the best, most free-scoring team in the world. Luka is the fulcrum of Tottenham's side- Huddlestone does not compare.
2) £40m is a good price, but no Spurs fan should honestly care. There would have been no way that Spurs, in the Europa League and paying mediocre wages, could have bought in an equal player(s)
3) It's good for the game. Good because it shows everyone that the super-rich and prestigious(well, City and Chelsea are hardly prestigious clubs but you get what what i mean) clubs cannot come and hand-pick anything they want, and good because it shows that players cannot always get what they want by moaning and behaving terribly, as Luka did in actual fact. Where were they when Luka was going for £16m? Oh yeah that's right, buying Shevchenko lol. Now they want him for £40....idiots
