I am sure i saw someone say they will take part in my next crazy and out there idea which made me laugh so perhaps this is the next one.

We are drawing close to the end of FM09 but i was thinking earlier about how much i change my squad every season...i mean does anyone actually only make 1-2 signings each season?

I wonder if i were to go a club like Blackburn,Sunderland,Tottenham,Portsmouth and keeping the same basic squad and tactics every season...would the moral and dressing room atmosphere help you have a better season rather than spending every penny the club has?

Obviously not signing anyone would make this alot more difficult so i am thinking i will only buy 2 players every season...unless someone has to be sold and needs replacing.

You would think if the same group of players playing together for a few seasons with the same tactic would be able to perform better each year?

I plan to try this using the 9.03 update and i will be going Bolton.

If anyone has idea's or suggestions as to how this can be better please do.

i think it should work, but with the ages of players could be a problem

sounds like a great challenge, however if you will get any success out of it in the long run is a different question! resisting those hard bargains and resisting the ability to freshen up your squad is something i don't even think about!

What about not signing more than one player per part of the team a season.

Therefore only sign 1 player for midfield, 1 player for defence, 1 player for attack....so on so on.

i done it with Arsenal last week, i made 2 signings none over 10 mil and they were back up and i played all the original players and came second in the league

Very true i will either bring youth through or work on those Area's rather than others

I still think thats too many players coming in.

It's a bit easier done with Arsenal really.

it could work, for me apart from first maybe 2nd season i tend to do at max 5 signings and if you can get them in b4 or very early during pre-season by the start of the season they should have a good level of understanding although that does slightly depend on the players personality and if they speak the language

Its a good |idea but it would become ridiculously hard after about 3 seasons

Good luck but it will get hard if your top players want out or if your top players are getting old

Only way to effectively test this theory, is to play two games with the same team, and on one of them, revamp the squad completely, improving where necessary, and in the other, just sign a couple, or zero players in the most-needed positions.

And even then, games vary a lot... you'd have to play through around 100 seasons to have effective ranges in data. :P Enjoy.

Great idea Kris, I've always thought of doing it myself but never had the balls to as I find delving into the transfer market one of the biggest joys of the game.

I'll give it a shot though, just wondering who to go. Fulham would be interesting, or Blackburn, hmm.

In terms of tactics, what are you proposing were restricted to doing Kris, just 4-4-2?

I Guess if i wanted to be 100% accurate on the matter i just want to see what will happen when i keep the same basic squad

Just a 4-4-2 i made ages ago.

during a network game i seen it work a few times, but i also seen splashing out very effective (deepesh with arsenal )

yh rite, deepish did amazing, so did josh ar chelsea

Yes I think it really does make a difference. Keeping one core squad really pays off in the long run
