Stats or stars

I am wondering what is more important, a players stats or his ability stars.

I have players with 3,5 stars, which have better stats than a 4,5 ability stars player.

Would you rather play a player with higher stats or concentrate on a players ability stars?

Stats. Always stats. If SI could get rid of stars, I'd love it. Stats all day long.

What the Stars are is an estimation of how good your assistant thinks the player is. It's not by any means an accurate assessment of a player and it will change as the player's form dips/rises, eg. My goalkeeper went form 3 stars to 3.5 stars because he hit a vein of form.

Stats are a more objective reference for how good a player is.
