Hello and welcome to my new football manger 2019 story. In this story we will be taking the role of former Liverpool star Steve Mcmanaman and we're returning to his place of birth, Bootle. We will be taking over the local team F.C Bootle who currently reside in the North West Counties Football League which is the 9th tier of English football. The home ground is New Bucks Park which has a capacity of 5000.

The U18 squad

The goal here is obviously to work our way through the league system and finally win the premier league. I have upgraded the youth facilities for the club a bit and as a result I've set the two goals/restrictions:
  • We will not sign any players above the age of 23
  • We will always have at least one player from our youth academy playing in every game, except when injuries prevent it
I'll try to update this as often as possible, I've already got a couple games played so I will be posting the first update tonight or tomorrow morning probably.

First signing of the season and preseason games

We start off the season in great fashion by signing a fantastic youth prospect for our club stature. Aaron Sennet-Neilson was a former free agent who decided to sign for us, I think he will play a massive part in the success of our midfield this season.

We also played through the preseason and didn't do too bad, a couple teams in our division and a couple teams in the division above us so I'm fairly pleased with our results.

We also sold an incredible amount of season tickets.

New signing becomes hero

Seems our poor cup-defence caught up to us in the league at last... Our new signing Sennet-Neilson did however have an incredible game and really showed why we got him in.

After our first 6 league games and 2 cup games we sit in 2nd place in the league with Ryan *** being our best performer without a doubt, Sennet-Neilson has however proven a fantastic signing during the start of the season.

Tomorrow I will be posting more stats on the players that are currently in and around the starting XI. We have also made two signings that I have unfortunately forgotten to post, will be updating with those aswell.

New transfers

We really needed a new leftback so we decided to go for Matthew Neal, a promising 20 year old left back with decent pace, should slot straight into the starting XI.

The second signing breaks our first rule of not singing a player above 23, but he breaks it by so much it's almost ok anyway. It is Steve Dickinson, a goalkeeper. We previously only had a 17 year old who is not quite ready to play first team football and we needed a bit of experience, with Dickinson being 45 years old it's safe to say we have that now.

Starting XI and challengers

Here comes a presentation of our starting XI and the main challengers for the spots.

This is the formation we're currently running, some games I swap the DM for an AM with the role Shadow Striker.

Starting XI
These are the main players that will start most games if fit, unfortunatley we're lacking players able to play on the wings properly now. I'll be looking into finding better wingers as the season goes on(if our finances allows it).

As you can se we're severly lacking depth, but our finances currently don't allow us to sign any more players, I am desperatly hoping we do well in the FA cup so we can get some money in and strenghten the squad a bit.

Massive cup update

Over the past couple of weeks we've played a lot of cup games.

In the FA cup 2nd qualifying round we managed to draw the first leg at home after Reece Scott missed a penalty near half time to shut down the game.

In the 2nd leg away from home we werent quite as sloppy and managed to come away with the win, we're through to the 3rd qualifying round, Billy Saxton has been fantastic in these two games netting two goals at only 16 years old.

We did however get some really bad news in the midst of all this cup drama, we lost our main striker.

Almost instantly though we are saved by Dane Daws, he scores two in the first game without Ryan ***.

For the 3rd round of the FA cup qualifying round we're drawn against Bristol Manor Farm which reside in the Southern League Division One South, two tiers above us. On paper this is not a game we should be winning.

Bristol did however get a red card early in the game which gives us an opening that we do not squander, we're through to the 3rd round! For the 4th round we're drawn against a vanarama national league team, that's 4 tiers above us... We're going to struggle with this game.

We'r not really tipped to get anything out of this game...

And they're right. We lost 2-1 after having had only 2 shots on goal all game. I'm proud of the team for getting this far in the FA cup though, 9th tier and only 1 game away from reaching the first round.

FA VASE

In the 1st round of the FA vase we secure a solid 3-1 victory after a brilliant performance by Reece Scott.

We also play an incredibly dull draw in the league against Barndolswick.

View attachment 14202

On top of this we've signed a loan player as backup for Billy Saxton, he's slighltly better than Saxton but I prefer playing my own players ahead of the loanee.

Summary of competitions

This is the current top performers in our first team, Carl Peers and Dane Daws have had a great couple of games and really proved their value. In terms of competitions we have had a good FA cup run and we are still in the other cups so things are looking good. We are however falling slightly behind the league leaders, but it's still early in the season and the aim is still to get promotion this season.
