I've decided that coaching isn't the job for me and that I think i'm capable of becoming a successful manager. Few jobs were currently available but Newcastle were looking for a new manager.

Stiliyan Petrov hired as manager of Newcastle

Former Aston Villa midfielder and captain has signed a 3 year contract to take charge at St. James' Park.

The Newcastle board have decided to have faith in a completely unproven manager but Petrov has said that he feels prepared and the Newcastle fans seem fairly confident with their new man.

Petrov is expected to attend a press conference later this afternoon.

Awesome choice, watch out for Mike Ashley though he is nasty. (I edited the game on my Newcastle save to remove him because I can't stand the man lol)

Press Conference

We'd like to welcome our new manager...Stiliyan Petrov!

SP: Thank you, It's a pleasure to be here!

Q. What made you decide that Newcastle are the right team for you to start your managerial career with?

SP: Obviously being completely inexperienced in management, joining Newcastle is certainly jumping in at the deep end, but I'm 100% confident that I can get the very best out of this very able team and hopefully shape the squad for many years too come.

Q. How do you feel about the current squad? Any places that need strengthening?

SP: I think we have real quality in players like Sissoko, Tiote and Colback, as well as experienced players such as Coloccini and Cisse and younger players like Ayoze, Aarons and Armstrong. However we could do with more depth and certain positions will need to be strengthened in January.

At first glance, we clearly need at least 2 quality center-backs as Williamson and Ryan Taylor are not good enough for this level and Coloccini is not what he used to be so that will be my main priority in January. We could also do with a new right winger, and possibly a new left winger too.

John Carver had actually done a pretty good job as caretaker manager, only losing one game to Liverpool, whilst drawing with Manchester United and Arsenal. The players are already playing well and hopefully I can keep their momentum going. My first challenge is against 11th placed West Ham.

Slightly disapointing first game in charge as I thought I had it in the bag after Kevin Nolan was sent off in the 3rd minute, but West Ham decided to park the bus for the whole game. Aside from Colback and Ferrerya hitting the post, Adrien kept out all 28 of my shots and had a really impressive game.
MOTM: Moussa Sissoko

Our defensive fragility was clear today with Ings and Sordell repeatedly getting past Coloccini and Williamson so signing new centre-backs is my main priority. We dominated the first half but still found it difficult to score, with Ayoze just managing to score from close range against Heaton. But Burnley wouldn’t give up and played really attacking football in the second half, forcing us to play deeper, with Marney finding Ings who netting a very well executed finish.
MOTM: Dean Marney

A disappointing defeat to a championship team who went to ten men in the second half. We had the majority of possession but it’s becoming apparent that we aren’t threatening enough in attack. I feel this is due to a lack of chances being created rather than the strikers, so I may look at bringing in a more creative playmaker in midfield. Riviere scored from close range but we were unlucky to concede to a rebound off the crossbar by Jordan Rhodes.
MOTM: Jay Spearing

Summary

Quite a poor start to my managerial career and I've discovered that we need to sign quite a few players to reshape this squad. My priority is to sign a relatively experienced center-back who is in very good form and a young center-back who will be capable of a rotational role, as well as a right winger, an attacking playmaker, a possibly a new striker. My best players have been Massadio Haidara who has been one of the league's best left-backs and Moussa Sissoko.

****, rough start. Not terribly surprised though, the initial Newcastle players while mostly quite good are not terribly consistent. And some only really start to shine once they're very familiar with the tactics.

Once you get some quality CB's you'll start getting the results. Never used Ayoze Perez but every save I have played he is awesome and a lot of teams circle when he starts banging the goals in.

Yeah I still haven't found the right tactic yet.

Yeah i'm looking at these two:

Pretty sure I'll move for Kone as he's in great form for Lyon and is strong and has good heading and jumping reach, which apperently our squad is worst in the league at. He'd be available for 4-8mil whilst Bjelland would cost 2-4mil, and he's also on great form.

Yeah Ayoze Perez usually goes to Man City or somewhere big so hopefully he'll be good in this save.

A fantastic win against 3rd place Stoke to kick off November. A fantastic free kick from Remy Cabella and a Tiote shot deflecting past the keeper gave us the lead before Sissoko netted a penalty after a Steve Sidwell handball. Ayoze Perez looked a real threat all game, with a mesmerising long range effort hitting the crossbar. Much better from the boys as our attacking prowess looks to have improved and we are lifted into 4th position!
MOTM: Remy Cabella

Another good performance, drawing with the league leaders. I thought we might have snatched the 3 points after a scorching strike from Vernon Anita cannoned in off the crossbar, but James Milner replied with an even better strike, a long range volley off a long ball from Wilfred Bony which could quite possibly be goal of the season.
MOTM: Moussa Sissoko

A very simple win against rivals and relegation candidates Sunderland. Vangioni complained that I wasn’t playing him as he had been signed before I got here and i wasn’t convinced by him, so I gave him a chance and he duly delivered, scoring twice. This lifts us back into fourth!
MOTM: Leonel Vangioni

Comfortable win against last placed West Brom. Mike Williamson scored early on from a corner and then we just grinded out the result with a solid defensive display.
MOTM: Mike Williamson

A really good month for the club after a poor first few games. The boys have really improved, pushing us up to 3rd, but this has attracted some big clubs to our star players, making it difficult to keep the squad together. I've now got a good idea of which players I'd like in January so that wil become clear soon. This is the squad report:

Newcastle complete double signing

Newcastle have signed Lyon center-back Bakary Kone for £5.5mil and Twente center-back Andreas Bjelland for £2.2mil, both 26.

Both have been in fantastic form this season, both sparking strong interest from the likes of Porto, Sporting, and Lille.

Both have signed 4 year contracts which will keep them at St. James' Park until 2019.View attachment 244050View attachment 244049
