Stop shooting from distance

4 in back
3 mid
2 wingers (AML - AMR)
1 striker

Rigid - Control - Short pass - Creative freedom : default

In a game i have like 20 shots from the mids, they don't want to pass... they shoot. I've put shoots to rarely, but nothing.

Some advice pls ?

Manually set their creative freeedom to low in the advanced settings, the higher the creative freedom, the more a player will ignore your instructions.. Also try asking them to try to look for pass.

I'd never use that tactic. Simple explaination is lack of passing options, so try reverting tactic. And you can also look to unlearn some preferred moves cause your midfielders might have long shots as one of them.

But in short, if they are shooting long, its becuase they likely dont have good passing options on

Worked a charm for me in FM10 and FM11 Just have to set it up right, just like any other tactic.

but yeah, if they don't have any options, they will shoot.

So you've got a couple options

A. Buy great long shot midfielders
B. edit your tactic.

It would help if you would post a picture of your team and player instructions so we know what roles they have.

check if they have it as a PPM. I have noticed that players do seem to take more long shots than before (although i have only played the demo)

Does that work? Didn't know that, thanks. Will try it immediately, my offensive mids are blowing them all over the place.

you could also try playing in a slower tempo. if your tempo is to high your players will have to make quick decisions and maybe just shot instead of look for a pass.
