I have been struggling to find a defensive tactic that will help away from as i'm conceding lots of goals. I normally play as Celtic and I know the Scottish League is not the best and i should be dominating most games but im not. Any help would be great.

Ta much.

Celtic are indeed one of the better teams in the SPL and you should be dominating a majority of the games.

In this situation the phrase, offence is defence rings a bell. You proberly have the quality to outshine opposition and therefore by attacking more throughout the game the opposition won't have the ball.

A defensive tactic is not what you need here.

Attacking too much against teams who are defending against you will only lead to them nicking a goal on the break if they are defending fairly well.

Read the TT&F documents and set up a control tactic.

Against European teams, you will probably be best making a tactic with at least one true DMC (4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1 etc).

I am playing a 4-2-2-2 tactic with my left and right back attacking as much as possible.

I am also one of the best teams in the division and have won the league 7 times in 8 seasons. I have never changed my tactic it just seems to... work :)

That's good to hear Hooo, but what may work for teams able to pull in true world class talent does not always work for teams without the reputation to get the best players.

Those of us who work with teams of lesser talents need to be more flexible with our approach :)

I would just assume the quality of players Celtic have compared to that of (Err who is bad in the SPL...) Dundee? this kind of tactic would prevail.

For Europe and perhaps against Rangers an alternative would be adviseable :P

Not always though as the OP has found. Teams will defend against dominant opposition. And unless you have genuine world class talent who will make any sensible tactic work, then you have to consider how best to break teams down. The best way is a control tactic which dominates possession and tries to spread the ball wide to create easy tap-ins via crosses.
