Suggested tactic & Signings at southampton first season ?

As the title says, done a few saves but get bored very easily.

You need a rotation left back to replace Shaw from time to time. Lucas Mareque is very good and he is free player, hire him even he ask higher wages. He worth it, and will play very good two years.

You need a rotation goalkeeper, I suggest to hire Julio Cesar, a Brazilian goalie, free player.

You need better center backs, you can obtain services of Kyle Bartley for only 3M Euro. You will play him along side with Lovren.

I doubt that you can have enough funds to buy more players. You have to sell someone, but in my save I couldn't sell anyone. I tried with Gaston Ramirez, Jos Hooiveld, Paul Gazzaniga, Kelvin Davis, Guly do Prado or Maya Yoshida. I succeeded to loan some players and to keep lower wages budget. Then I could buy Ayoze Perez with 2M Euro. I bought him because Lallana could be easily injured.

Because both Shaw and Clyne are superb wing backs, with good dribbling and crossing, I recommand to use them as full-back with duty attack. I used a lot 4-3-2-1 formation with MPLS tactic http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/shar...-strong-attack-strong-defense-undefeated.html

Yes, but I like it better the counter version. I kept the tactical instructions and change only the formation in 4-2-3-1 without wingers (like old style City), in 4-2-2-2 without wingers, in 4-1-3-2 without wingers, 4-3-1-2 without wingers. And I alternate this versions from time to time to not let the AI found an effective counter.

The very first signing I made in my epic Southampton save was Tom Ince from Blackpool for 3.2-million with Kelvin Davies and Guly do Prado going in the opposite direction in part-exchange. I'm now in season 2022/23 and Ince is 30 years-old, having been a major part of my 2 x Premier League 1 x Europa League and multiple domestic cup-winning squad as an attacking winger on the left.

I have never updated my player database for FM14 - so he might be at Crystal Palace or be a free agent in your save.
