After newly-promoted Swansea wowed watchers with their great Barcelona esque-passing they finished the season in 11th position. Revolutionary boss Brendan Rodgers, however, has taken his talents to Merseyside to manage Liverpool. Swansea have now signed a former USA international to lead the club. Will Swansea repeat and better the successes of last year, or will they crash after one season?

This will be a FM2012 story about trying to take Swansea City to the top of the premier league, and hopefully all of Europe. The database I will use is LFCMarshall's July 7 Database. First update will come up shortly

Brandon Rudney's Swansea career got off to a mediocre start, losing 1-0 to Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag. Rudney and his men picked up their form as the preseason rolled on, picking up a 1-1 draw with Israeli outfits Ahi Nazareth, and steamrolling their remaining opponents. The highlight of the preseason was undoubtedly the strong 2-0 win against Udinese.

Swansea had a very successful transfer window, strengthening their squad with young players such as Yaya Sanogo and Giuseppe Prestia. Also they signed Glen Whelan. 4 youth players were sent on loan, and aging central midfielders Kemy Agustien and Leon Britton were sold to Vitesse and Cardiff.

I will be updating this month-to-month

We got off on a strong foot, earning a very respectable draw with Man United. Wayne Rooney opened the scoring in the ninth minute, but the our best winger Sinclair equalised just after half time. Couldn't be happier with the result!

Our high came crashing down after we were taught a lesson by European champions Chelsea. Although this was expected at the start of the season, it still feels bad to lose like this after our strong draw against United.

Now that is more like it! A hat-trick from loanee John Guidetti and goals from our two centerbacks Tate and Williams ensured the three points for us today against a strong Sunderland side.

Capital One Cup

We advance into the third round after a dominating performance against League 2 side Cheltenham. A brace by Dyer and another goal from Williams gave us the 3-0 win

A very good month for us overall, 2 wins, 1 draw, and a loss isn't bad.

Swansea Player of the Month
August's player of the month was Ashley Williams. The captain had a great defensive performance and chipped in with 2 goals.

P.S. This is the main tactic I will be using.

Tough loss against first place Arsenal. We actually didn't do too bad, possesion was even and we got 4 shots on target, but Mr. Wayne Szszesny was on form and kept the clean sheet.

Wow! Domination over relegation-threatened Norwich. A Nathan Dyer brace along with another brace from Yttergard Jenssen sealed the win.

Whew! This was a tight game against Fulham, but in the end I think that we were deserved winners.

I rested most of my starters during this game, and although it was 1-0 I think it was a comfortable win for us.

September's player of the month is Nathan Dyer. 3 games, 3 goals, and an assist make him our player of the month.

Big Update up to Jan. 1st 2012

Swansea City Results from October to January

Overall a so-so way to end the first half of the season. I'm particularly disappointed with the losses to Stoke, Wigan, and West Brom, along with the draw against QPR. The draw with Pool and the win vs. Newcastle were very important and I was pleased with both of those results. Hopefully we will ontinue to improve during the second half of the season and reach my goal of 7th place.

This is the league table right after our loss to United. As you can see we are in 8th place, just one spot away from my initial goal for the season. If we had won those games against Stoke, Wigan and West Brom, we would have been in 4th place! We need to improve and try to win these types of games. All in all, I'm not complaining about 8th place when we were predicted to finish 16th.

Well apparently ending the season in 11th place isn't enough for the Swansea board. SACKED! But.. I'm the leading candidate for the newly vacant Arsenal job. So should I continue this story with Arsenal?
