I like going through the competition award winners page to pick up some gems. While going through the u-20 world cup awards page or something like that, I found the the golden glove had been picked up by a french keeper named Pierrick Cros. ( This is in the 4th season ). So I scouted him and found him languishing in some French team, without getting a match. His contract was about to run out in 10 months. So the club agreed to sell him to me for just 400k. He looked decent and I signed him on a back up contract.

My first choice keepers are M.Amelia and A.Smithies. I use them in rotation. While going through the stats of Pierrick Cros, I found out that the could be a good sweeper keeper. So I played him as a sweeper keeper ( only his communication stat is slightly less ) and gave him a debut against wigan in league cup.

He pulled off some stunning saves. Then their striker broke the off side trap and was through. Cros rushed out and blocked the shot. Rebound fell to their other striker who scored. My team played like ****, but managed to score again. They get a corner, my defenders head it back to the corner taker, who cuts in and shoots. Cros blocks and pushes it back to the corner taker, who again shoots and scores. We lose :(

So I benched him for a few matches. I chose him to play again as sweeper keeper agsint Villa, the team with Usain Bolt's twin, Agbonlahor. Again, he makes some stunning saves from long shots.

Next we get a corner. Villa defenders head it out. I have 2 full backs and 1 dm on stay back duty. But Rodwell breezes past all of them and is one on one with P.Cros. Cros rushed out and Rodwell is forced to shoot. Cros blocks and the rebound fall to Downing who is on the right wing. From 25 yards out, Downing puts it into an empty net.

Now the question is this: When M.Amelia / A.Smithies play as GK def, they do face one on ones. They either concede or make a save. No crazy rebound nonsense. When P.Cros plays as sweeper keeper def, he makes the save every time, but the rebound is always a goal....

Does this happen with all sweeper keepers ? Or is P.Cros not suited for a sweeper keeper role... I do not have a screen shot but I can give you his vital stats...

Rushing out - 16
Acceleration - 16
Pace - 15
One on ones - 14
Communication - 8 ( unfortunately, on the lower side )

Should I change him back to GK defend or should I have him as sweeper keeper... Plz help...
Thank you :)

he is a good keeper, sweeper keepers are caught out of position after the save as they rush out of their 6 yard box which leaves the goals open behind the keeper, we as keepers can only do so much, stop the ball from going into the net at all costs, if we parry it and it falls into the path of a striker, your defenders should be there to prevent the striker from scoring...

so maybe set your defenders to man mark and cover duties and set your quickest striker to man mark their quickest attacker :)
