My poacher hasnt been scoring a lot of goals recently, im looking for player and team instructions to suit a typical poacher im playing a 4-2-3-1. Im at Chelsea first season and the striker in Higuain.

Poachers don't tend to work very well by themselves up front anymore. They did on previous FM's due to the lack of a collision detection system, meaning a striker could literally run through a defender. On FM13, they have to go around the defender, making tactics focused on through balls to a lone striker much less effective and more realistic. Try changing him to deep lying forward, should work better.

On Raikans Dortmund recreation tactic he says that you can change the DLF to Poacher and still have success which is true ( I tried it out)

the thing with poacher, is that he is a finisher. If you check his primary stats, you will also see that he is a dribbler. That, for one, means not using play through defence shout as that limits his dribbling ability. Second, it means not using adv. playmaker in central midfield, as that will isolate the attack. Thirdly, using a deep lying playmaker that can pass him a killer ball behind the defence to run onto is usually fruitfull. And that is best achieved with high tempo and/or counter attacking ticked on. If using counter attack, you may want deeper defensive line to create space behind the opponent and give the poacher space to run to. Next, he is usually positioned at the near post, so drill crosses in team settings might help if you are using a winger or inside forward on the flanks.
