Tactic Experiment. Inverted Wing Backs

Okay, so apologies it's messy and on a notepad. But I was bored at work today and decided to think of a "different" tactic to create. I came up with the above idea from Bayern München. This doesn't go to say it won't work with other teams, I just feel with the players Bayern have, it suits them most.

I dont know if it'll work, but I'd love for people to try it, not just with Bayern, but with other teams, and let me know how they get on.

Im really keen to get the Inverted Wingbacks involved in the middle of the park and contributing to tight, midfield play.

The Instructions on the side are just guidelines, by all means ignore them and do what you like, but try and keep the team shape as much as you can, feel free to tweak it here and there and let me know the outcome.

The general layout of the tactic seems to look pretty good to me but I cant make out some of the roles in the team. What roles were you thinking of giving the central midfielder and the striker as well. Also is the GK a sweeper keeper or just a general keeper.

Cheers! I think I had the CM as a CM either support or auto, or a DLP support. And the striker as either a poacher or a complete forward, I'm not sure what'd work best. But like I said if you feel/realise something should be changed, just have a play around and let me know!

Cheers! I think I had the CM as a CM either support or auto, or a DLP support. And the striker as either a poacher or a complete forward, I'm not sure what'd work best. But like I said if you feel/realise something should be changed, just have a play around and let me know!

If I play 1 up top I usually play a role that drops deep but with the AM he may not need to do that. I think the CM/DLP role would be fine there but I usually like to play with more energy so I would personally a B2B instead. You don't have enough width on the right hand side so I would suggest either changing the IWB to a WB or switching the IF to a W. Having width on both sides will give more space for your AP behind the striker.

I was aware of the lack of width down the right hand side, but it has its pros and cons. I feel it adds range to the types of attacks. maybe having one Wing Back wouldn't be a bad idea though. Would love to see some experiments. I am a bit fixed to my Burnley save at the moment however.

looking at your note above i think the right hand defo needs looking at, your IWB, CM and Right IF would all probaly head into the same space on the attack going forward. EDIT - just noticed this was mentioned above DOH!

It may not play like that in test but on paper, all head into the drift left/right space of your AP-Attack.

I like idea of one underlapping FB and one over, might give it a go with City, overlap past the drifitng AP/IF Silva on the left and the underlap past Winger Navas (hugs line) with the right hand side...

You are right, in-game the right hand side is all a bit narrow. All in all, one side should have an over lapping wing-back and a cutting in wide player. On the other side vice versa.

Please let me know how it works with your City side! (Would definitely have Silva as a narrow AP!)
