tactic for stoke

Hi every one i am currently playing an online game with my mate and we decided to use average teams he is everton and i am stoke. Now his team has adapted to his tactics and is playing well where as mine has not i have tried various ones which have failed i got no money so my squad is standard the main problem seems to be scoring. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try either a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1 . 4-4-2 play with two target men and try and get one to hold the ball to feet and the other knock the ball down . 4-4-1-1 Target man up front , long passing towards target mans head for knock downs to the attacking mid .
