HOW DOES IT WORK
The point of this tactic is to score more goals than the opposition and ideally if you can get good enough players you will score goals from every position. The supply for the strikers, comes from the Wing Backs, who maraud forward to either get in deep to cross or most of the time, hit a cross in from further out. The rest of the team, is the engine. They will create space for the wing backs and strikers to work their magic.
CHOOSING PLAYERS
Goalkeeper, just essentially try and get someone reasonable. The tactic aims to minimise keeper exposure, so nobody incredible is needed.
LEFT AND RIGHT WING BACK: Here you need players who are either quick or very good crossers. It doesn't have to be both, but I'd advise one or the other at least. At Everton I used Baines and Coleman. Baines at his best got 42 assists and 6 goals in one season (62 Games) and Coleman got 31 assists and 8 goals on 65 games, so yeah these guys are important. If you need to buy players and want to use this tactic, make the investment HERE FIRST.
CENTRAL DEFENDERS: All round defenders are best here, amazing central defenders won't matter unless you're against the very best. Don't worry too much if you are weak in this area.
DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER: Essentially want a fella who is more defensively minded than attacking here, just to tidy things up. I've had in this position McCarthy, Barry, Bender and eventually Romero.
CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS: These two players are extremely important. Not as much as the wing backs, but these guys are the engines of your team. Their role is Box to Box, so if you can get someone who is a goal threat then it can give your team a major asset. For a while I have Barkley and Andre Ayew here. Ayew I signed for £6million and sold him to Bayern for £39million - he was incredible.
ATTACKING MIDFIELDER: This guy needs to be a bit creative, but generally just a work horse who puts pressure on the opposition back line. He's a shadow striker in the tactic, but if you have nobody fitting change the role to attacking midfielder. I had Barkley here, Gaston Ramirez. Both were average. I managed to sign Goetze on a free (crazy!) and he's been immense.
LEFT STRIKER: This man is your advanced forward. Ideally use somebody who is reasonable in the air to but no slouch. You need him to be able to benefit from the Wing Backs service. I have Lukaku here whose best season with this tactic was 80 goals 24 assists in 64 appearances. Get the right player here and you're set.
RIGHT STRIKER: I've had so many players here and it was hard to find the right fit for a while. The role is complete forward and I've had Carlos Fierro in this position who has just won the World Golden Ball. However, I have had Giovinco and Eto'o both of who were awful so if it doesn't work for you then change the role to Defensive Forward or DLF.
Happy to upload more screenshots just ask. Training just default, opposition instructions by and large just follow the advice of the assistant manager.
NOTE: After downloading the tactic, it may be named "442 Diamond WB".
