Tactical advice

Having a real tactical problem, as i am new to managing in the lower leagues , have tinkered my tactics so that i am conceding less goals ( Still conceeding too many against the better teams ). Despite having reasonable possesion, more shots and even shots on target in most games i almost always lose by a single goal i.e 2-1 or 1-0. Any advice

having problems uploading screenshots. My tactics are 4-1-4-1 wide Counter/control structured depending on opposition. Playing as Halifax town in vanarama national.
