Hi, i have been struggling massively with tactics for all teams that i use... went back to play with arsenal after i resigned from Birmingham after getting them promoted and looked at the players and thought of a 4-1-3-1-1 tactic (see picture) is there anything you could see that i can change? thanksView attachment 414171

I dont have answer i just want to ask how good is Allen in your save?

i've never used Defensive wingers, but generally speaking your team needs to be balanced.

Your entire attack consists of two players right? Just ozil and giroud, and frankly, ozil isnt a good goal scorer, and in 2017 im sure giroud is "over the hill" as they say.

Your regista and CM and likely playing in the same spot. Same with your CWB and DWs (but i've never used DW)

Jack Wilshere under no circumstances should be used as a ML. He is a top3 AMC and can also be a top3 in the world BBM, or even DLP-S. but he is being totally wasted. May as well put Kieran Gibbs there if you want him to be a DW. (i would never do this, but again, i dont use DWs)

Why are you playing so defensively as well? Only 3 players on an attack duty is, but when two of them are CWBs you just wont get enough folks into the box.

also way too many roles for a "very fluid" tactic, its also likely none of your players are doing what you ask of them :). Im not sure the exact numbers, but the number of different roles your tactic can handle is determined by your fluidity. So, and if you think about it, this makes sense, a very fluid team cant support different roles, because by setting very fluid, you are telling them to use their creativity and decision stats to run all over the field. WIslhere may end up at FB for a possession etc...

As it stands, with very fluid and Ozil as a SS, its very unlikely you have anyone for your CWBs to cross to, or anyone making runs into the box. Because ozil on veyr fluid = running all over the field trying to pick the ball up. He will ignore your SS role.

If you'd like your players to adhere to the specific roles you select, you should be playing more rigid.

Here is a link to a brief discussion thread on this forum that ends with a very successful tactic in the final screenshots on page 2. Its not a downloadable tactic, just some ideas for you.

there is also a "pairs and combinations guide" in the SI forums that you can probably find with google that is a game changer. totally changed everytthing for me.

1. You only have one player in mf/attack position on attack. on attack. You ll struggle to score.
2. Good call with the dws in front of attacking cwbs. Though I wouldnt construct tactics like you do.
3. Try wbs one on attack the other auto. In front of the attacking one push up the winger, make him an if and have him on attack.
4. The other winger turn into a winger and put support.
5. You can even try turning the rga into a dlp and have him on defend and the cm into a bwm and have him on auto (or if you cant leave him as cm and have him on auto). This is not that necessary though it would offer more variety and balance.
6. Exploit the flanks/run at defence/hassle/get stuck in/more direct and fast/push up offside trap.

thanks for the reply mate! im playing defensively because no matter what tactic i use i concede way too many goals... wilshire as a DW is 4* which is why i put him there for the time being... i agree ozil doesnt score but i have changed him to treq and changed up to rigid play... i could change the CWB to just WB but none of those players i have signed so its a bit hard to get players in as i only have 5m to spend!! bit of a joke really! saying that with this tactic i beat man city 2-0 lol! will take a look at those forums! just annoying how no tactics ever seem to work for me!

i dont use the "medium one" but i've won the PL with 6 different teams using the attack and defend of that tactic (with minor tweaks for players etc, for instance, you can see I set a player instruction for Daniel Sturidge to shoot less because of his shoots from distance ppm).

i created that tactic after reading all three of the top guides at the SI forum.

There is like a basic one, the pairs and combo's one, and an advanced one that is really deep.

also another thing... why do i always get smashed in the possession stat? always around 60/40 in favour of other team??

hahah, yes the other CM is a DLP-D, i just noticed that tooltip is covering half the tactic, ha.

The roles for the two tactics are all the same.

If im playing a really good team sometimes i will change the BBM to a BWM and the WB-A to a WB-S duty, but thats only against the BEST teams.

I couldnt see all of your team instructions from the post earlier, it looked like there were more? They are usually the culprit as far as your possession issue, so grab a S/N of those, or just list em?

yeah thats what i thought haha! swapped the inside forward and winger around as with attacking wing back to the right as i have martin montoya at right back (i still havnt signed anyone!!) and ben davies on the left so montoya more attacking... also the ox on the right is probably a better IF!

well i have changed to yours now giving that a go! beat blackburn away 2-1 possession was 58/42 to them i was away so was playing with the counter attack! but my instructions for my tactic were: exploit middle, play narrower, higher tempo, hassle opponents, get stuck in, play out of defence and float crosses :)

also forgot to ask... what do you do regards training? i normally leave match training and general training to *** man and i do individual training to the positions they are (SS)

thats what i do with regards to individuals, with the occasional specific attribute training for certain players. I train tactics all off-season on high and during the season (still on high, with day off before and after game checked), then when we are all the way fluid i switch it to attacking and attacking movement.

i keep it simple on training front. some guys like to do fitness and manage more, but, meh. ive been pretty successful without doing that.

atleast i aint the only one who does that then! i think during off season i do fitness very high and pre season and start of season i do tactics until the familiarity with all 3 tactics are 100% then i have it on defensive positioning as id rather have solid defence so dont concede :)

1. As I say here (among other stuff) http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...506-ask-uncle-mad-uncle-mads-box-choccys.html playing Defensively wont necessarily mean you ll concede less and may find yourself actually conceding more (you are after all inviting teams to repeatedly come at you).

2. Go to Passion4football blog (google it) - for the previous version of FM he has a very good article on winning possession - you can still use principles from it to ensure that you dont allow opposition to retain ball.

3. General training should mainly be attack and ball control (alternate by week) imho as they pertain to scoring goals and keeping possession - For match training attacking movement or depending on opponent (eg cup games away agains equal/better teams maybe attacking set pieces to get the away goal).

yeah i guess your right... if its counter with quick football though it could work... i only used that tactic against stronger teams away from home and worked okay i guess... changed the tactic to the one mwhitehorn07 made and been okay so far guess the team needs to get used to it before they play well!... will keep training on tactics till they are fluid :) thanks for all the help guys! keep it coming though haha sure il find more and more problems!

lost 2 games in a row mwhitehorn to norwich and middlesborough... i just dont think i understand this game AT ALL
