Tactics 2011

Hello, Base!

So, I started playing the Football Manager series in 2009, and I have to say it's been fantastic! 2009 & 2010 were both amazing! And tactically weren't hard but weren't easy.. They took a while to get right but it wasn't that complicated. However, 2011 seems to be really, really harder tactically! (Or, am I the only one who thinks this?) I've tried near so many different tactics, PI's & settings and I just can't see to get it right, or produce a working tactic. And it's dampening the enjoyment for the game, as when I'm playing my personal saves I tend to create my own tactics and only use downloaded ones when testing them for others.

I've read TT, INickStuff's threads, TBH's threads.. And looked at JP's tactics over & over again. With no success.

So, do you feel tactically 2011 is harder?
What formations do you feel are the best on 2011?

i am the same as you i like trying to make my own but always see to fail.

4-4-2 with winger pushed into aml, amr seems popular this year.

Is the first tactic for 11.3? I know the second one isn't.

EDIT: Just noticed they're both for 11.2. And I'm using 11.3

Yeah both are on 11.2. Have yet to find a suitable tactic for 11.3. I believe the guy who created the first tactic have came out with a narrow version for 11.3

I have found relative tactical success, in my last save in particular. Only really played 2011 so I can't compare, but I haven't found it too hard, to be honest. I just don't think there's a tactic that suits every team in every league.

Has anything in particular troubled you?

Definately, takes alot more time and effort than it did in previous editions, some people have made amazing tactics however..

The major difference between this years edition and FM10 is that the actual Tactic have less influence on the match. Match preperation, man handling and the stats and ppms of the players play a much bigger part than in FM10 and 09. One reason is that its supposed to be that way, the coding of the game and another reason is that thera much fewer flaws in the ME to tactically exploit (there are still a few though, teams not being able to handle certain players movements when using a certain marking/defensive positioning system.).

So in short, there are more variables to take into a account when evaluating the tactic and its flaws resulting to that its harder to read the Me when playing in key or extended highlights. If really wanting to tweak the tactic actually knowing what causes the team to play the way their are doing, you have to pay attention to the ppms and playerstats, running the game in extended highlights and using the analyze tool after every single game, watching some of the sequences over and over again.
