The fun of FM for me is not spending ages on creating a set of 15 different tactics, for all kind of weather conditions, pitch sizes, etc.

Neither is it having to spend half an hour before every match analyzing the opposing team, their tactics, and tweaking my tactic/opposition instructions.

I like to play FM the 'old school' style (like it was in CM98/99 for instance), with more the emphasis on finding great players, and building a team, than on in depth tactical gameplay. It was simple back then: create a reasonable tactic, get yourself some good players, and find yourself set for years of fun.

So what i am looking for, and suggesting to gather in this thread, are single tactics that:

-work without any adaptations throughout the season (at least for one season, i don't mind switching on a yearly basis).

-preferably without opposition instructions, but a very basic set of 'standard' instructions would be acceptable.

-provide results that are at least according to expectations.

I have only recently started with FM2009, so as soon as i find tactics that tick the boxes, I'll make sure to post them here. In the meantime I hope I'm not the only one who likes to play like this, and maybe more people bring in good tactics.

if p)layingwith world class players, try mine, its in the tactis thread ''patrick's overlord tactic'', thinki ive been going oàn with it for seasons now.

I've recently created a tactic but you do need to tweak it slightly every so often... based on if you have a target man or not.

Thanks for the response. Its time to put some of the tactics to the test.

I had already found one to test, and will add to the test:

Luis' Overlord tactic:I won't be playing the top teams, but the category below it (top division mid table clubs). Curious if it works there too.

Drugan's tactic: having a target men or not for me is a decision for a season, so it would require tweaking only if both my target man AND his backup are unavailable. That is still acceptable. If you could provide a link...

I'll be back with some results.

Try getting Championship Manager 2008, Its not quite as good as FM2009 but its way easier to win, basically if you just field a team similar to opposition with all the players in their correct places, every fit and decent morale, you will win more than loose.

You may give it a go, but tbh it's like ''football samba'', I pretty much sit adn watch them play, its long since I had to give them any instructions. To be fair, unless you have the ebst I don't think my tactic will work
