Tactics Help, New to FM

Hello all, im kinda new to FM (Well in it's current guise) Been many years since i played FM (I think CM 97/98 was my last) anyway i have been playing the game, getting mixed results with Arsenal, but having fun, i started to get bored with it though and wanted something more challanging so i started up a new game with Eastbourne Borough (My Local Team).

So far it's not going well, but hey-ho! So last night i found myself wanting more player pictures, Logo's and shirts and i came across this place, whilst looking through the tactics forum, i found myself confussed with somethings, wondering if ya can help me out here.

Whats OI ? (An abbreviation for something i assume)

When people talk about Shouts in Tactics whats that about?

I apoligise if this is answered somewhere else and im wasting a topic but i can't seen anything about it!

OI = Opposition Instructions, just before the game

Shouts = Touchline instructions, in-match.

Play more and you'll get to know a lot more and do look around this forum. Use the search function
 
Suggest you checkout ' Tactical Theorems '10 ' - It pretty much explains all you need to know about Touchline Shouts / Opposition Instructions / Player Roles ect;. There's an awful lot of tactical nuances to be studied !

It's a Free download, which is nice. You'll find it in the ' Download Tactics ' section of this site
 
Thanks, i started reading that download, lots to take in! ya know i didn't even give the 2d engine a try i was playing my matchs in the old style with just the commentry at the bottom, just out of intrest what speed do you guys play the matchs at?

I feel like im missing out on the being able to twiddle the shours tactics in match but slowing it down takes so long, i just can't decide what to do!
 
how do you get the arrows for the players to make the runs like you could in 08, when you click then drag? help
 
Also, in games of old, the computer used to crack your tactis, or it felt that way, no matter how good your team/tactic was they used to break it, is that still the case or can u now build a team around a formation without having to worry about the formation being wasted at the end of the season and have to re-shape your squad to accomadate it.
