Well I have a few other problems, but mainly tactics. I would really like to play with 3 central defenders, but I have some serious problems with conceding goals when I do so. I would really use some advices. I am trying to make 2 tactics - 3-5-2 and 3-4-3, but I want them both with some modifications and not the straight-forward options. All of my squad players have high acceleration and pace attributes - even the CDs have at least 15 pace! Also I have high-depth of the squad and most probably have the squad to fulfill the requirements of any of the tactics suggested. I also have about 40mil $ so I can rearrange some part of the squad.
Another problem of mine is that my strikers are mainly poachers and trequartistas and I can't cope with them. They are all pretty decent and I can't let anyone go. I have Lenny Nangis, Facundo Ferreyra, Carlos Fierro, Carlos Vela and Hervin Ongenda. Also lets face it - poachers are only consuming and taking into consideration the fact that I will play with 3 defender - I would like use to them for some more duties. Any advice will be helpful.
If anyone is interested in helping me I would post screenshots, tactics that I am using, etc. Anything that you ask. Any help will be appreciated as mentioned above. Thank you in advance.

Btw I have less than 2 weeks before the 5th season starts. XD

Cheers!

My favourite tactics 4-1-2-2-1, use this if you exploit the flank

GK: Defend
LB: fullback (support) RB: Fullback (attack), players with good crossing is best choice to attack duty
CB: limited Defender (stopper), Central Defender (cover)
DMF: Defensive midfielder (Defend)
CMF Deep lying playmaker (support), Ball wining midfielder (support)
AMF (left and right): Winger (attack)
Striker: Poacher

Team Instruction:
Passing style: direct
Targetman: One of your Winger
Supply: Run onto ball
Crossing: drill

Shout:
Exploit flank, Work ball into box,
Try it!!!

Its great that you are trying to help people but you are going completely off topic. The user was ( 2 weeks ago) asking about a tactic using 3 central defenders, not a flat 4 at the back. Please read the first posts in the threads you are posting in, ok !

Hi mate, all I can tell you is that it is really a tricky issue playing well and not conceeding too much while playing with a 3 men back line. What kind of goals do you most concede? against what kind of formations?
I'll risk an advice: Instead of playing 3 CB, play 2 FB and a CB with an anchor man in front of him (a real destroyer). If playing 3 CB the match engine will always leave opposition wingers with no immediate opponent which will often result in goals, so in order to tackle this you'll need FBs (defensively oriented players) as there is no defensive equivalent to cut inside. When playing with only one CB, he will be always under pressure facing too much opposition players, this is the reson why you'll need a very very defensive DM with defensive mentality. Your CMs will also need to help at the back so do not set them as AP. Another thing is to reduce width and tempo as much as possible. If you're playing wide there will be far too much space between your CB and FB for the opposition to exploit, playing a low tempo will reduce the risk of loosing possession too cheaply and being caught out of positions which will always result on devastating counters. Although having a 4 men midfield and 3 strikers could help with a possession based tactic, I don't think the match engine is developped enough to handle this, so may be it would be better to have defensively minded settings for most of your players combined with direct passing and counter attacking.
Finally, be very carefull and never play this way against 3 central strikers, also pay much attention to defending set pieces.
Hope this helps and good luck you're not facing the easiest of challenges whatever the quality of your line up is.
Hope this helps.
