Hey folks!

I'm Marco Matuf, a 36 year old Manager living in Dortmund, West Germany.
For as long as I can remember I'am a Fan of the local Club Boussia Dortmund, and it is breaking my heart to see my club in such a bad shape lately. Since i just got my authorization to train in the highest league in Germany, the Bundesliga, i wrote a letter to the presidency of Borussia Dortmund to offer my services as Headcoach and Manager for the team.
I didn't expect to get hired or even get an answer, but this is where my Story begins:

Just after Beginning of the new Season a guy was waiting infront of my apartment. Of course i recognized him immediately! It was Dr. Reinhard Rauball, Chairman of Borussia Dortmund.
I couldnt believe when he greetet and offered me, without any further small-talk, the job as Headcoach and Manager of Borussia Dortmund. Needless to say, i certainly couldn't say no and found my self at my future workplace in the same evening. A turn in my life i've never expected!

Introduction to the Club:

Won the Bundesliga 6 Times. The last win was 2001/2002.

Finnished first in German DFB-Pokal 2 Times.

Won the UEFA Champions League and Intercontinental Cup in 1997 .

Golden Time from 1995 till 1997 with 2 Bundesliga Wins, 1 German Supercup win and ofcourse the epic win of the Champions League in 1997.

Playing homegames at Signal-Iduna-Park, former known as Westfalenstadion. It currently has a capacity of 80,552

The famous Yellow-Wall of Borussia Dortmund at Signal-Iduna Park!

The Club nearly got bankruptcy in 2005 but is recovering slowly from this!


My main goal should be the qualification for Europe through Bundesliga. I'm confident of achieving this and looking forward to tell you more of my exciting life as Manager!

Yep they are. But we have many injured players and lost the last 2 games. Next game is against FC-Bayern. Seems like the good times are over ;D

Hey guys! Im back. First of all i've got an exciting message to tell(You probably read it allready in the newspapers!):
Former Headchoach of Dortmund, Jürgen Klopp, didn't want to leave the club asked me to stay in Dortmund as assistant-manager.
Even if Klopp couldn't get on top right away, i still believe he's one of Germany's finest managers! So welcome to my team Mr. Klopp.


The next thing i want to do is to introduce you to my actual team:

Goalkeepers:

Roman Weidenfeller, 32 yrs, 2,800,000 € | Not the best but my current No.1

Marc Ziegler, 28 yrs, 1,500,000 € | Backup for Roman

Marcel Höttecke, 22 yrs, 1,000,000 € | My third keeper. He has potential, but i cant see him as my No.1 in the future. He will probably sold in 1 or 2 Seasons

Defenders:

Marcel Großkreutz, 23 yrs, 675,000 € | Central Defender. I've got enough potential there. He will definetely be sold

Marcel Schmelzer, 21 yrs, 1,400,000 € | Left Defender, Best backup i have for this postions. Will stay for now

Felipe Santana, 23 yrs, 2,900,000 € | Central Defender, Fairly good player and a real tower in my defence. Despite that he's just backup!

Uwe Hünemeier, 23 yrs, 1,400,000 € | Central Defender, Nearly the same as Marcel Großkreutz

Neven Subotic, 20 yrs, 4,800,000 € | Central Defender, Probably the best DC in my team

Mats Hummels, 20 yrs, 4,400,000 € | Central Defender or Defensive Midfielder, 2nd best DC. Both he and Subotic have the potentials to be future Stars in Europe

Dede, 31 yrs, 4,500,000 € | Left Defender and one of the older players in the Team and a real old hand. In the team since 1998!

Patrick Owomoyela, 29 yrs, 3,100,000 € | Right Defender and curent No.1 on his Side since i don't have alternatives.

Sebastian Hille, 28 yrs, 300,000 € | Right Defender, I don't really now why he's in the Team. Will be sold or released for sure!

Midfield:

Tinga, 31 yrs, 2,100,000 € | Depending on how we'll play he will be my backup in the Defensive Midfield

Sebastian Kehl, 29 yrs, 4,000,000 € | Captain and great DM. He for sure is one of the Keyplayers in my Midfield.

Nuri Sahin, 20 yrs, 5,250,000 € | Current Player of the Turkish National Team and Star of the Team. He's best in the Central Midfield and has a lot of potential to become a well known Player in Europe

Jakub 'Kuba' Blaszczykowski, 23 yrs, 4,500,000 € | Currently set for the right wing

Markus Feulner, 27 yrs, 2,000,000 € | Only a backup on both left and right wing

Tamás Hajnal, 28 yrs, 4,400,000 € | Set on the left wing

Dimitar Rangelov, 26 yrs, 2,700,000 € | Mediocre player and backup for Tamás on the left wing

Striker:

Mohamed Zidan, 27 yrs, 4,500,00 € | A good AMC or Striker whos definetely set on one of the mentioned positions

Damien Le Tallec, 19 yrs, 2,200,000 € | Damien could be compared to Mohamed and has the potential to be better than him in a few years

Nelson Valdez, 25 yrs, 3,700,000 € | Still known for not scoring. Before he joined Dortmund he was a beast and i think he can become a best again.
We just have to trust in him! Probably the best Striker i currently have.

Lucas Ramon Barrios, 24 yrs, 4,200,000 € | Just joined Dortmund and hopes are high around him. He was the Worlds Top-Scorer last year.


I hope you've got a rough image of how my Team looks like.

The first match of the Season was against our U23 Squad. I didnt like the first Half of my Team giving away to much possesion and scoring only 1 goal.
The 2nd half was way better as we scored 2 more goals.
I was extremely disappointed from Lucas Barrios as he looked unmotivated and was the worst of my players on the pitch today.
Between the last and our next game i finally sold my first player. Uwe Hünemeier left us for 1,000,000 € to SC Freiburg.
I hope Großkreutz and Hille are following him soon so i can buy a new Defender for the right side of the pitch.

Our next game was against our partner FK Wien in Wien. During the flight i got a phonecall from one of my assistants informing me FC Stade Rennes enquired about Neven Subotic.
I instantly emailed them i wont sell Subotic and told them to get their fingers off my Defender! Nevertheless I really enjoyed the flight and was fairly impressed as we landed in Wien.
The game itself was good in the first half as we scored 2 goals after 30 minutes having possesion of nearly 60% throughout the first half.
I was really impressed of Le Tallec in the first half as he scored the 2nd goal.
The 2nd half wasnt that good anymore getting only 5 shots.
We conceded a goal from Wien in the second half, but I still was pleased with my team as Wien only shot 5 times on our goal.

From Wien we took a flight to Greenock in Scotland to play against Greenock Morton. Should be a fairly easy game. Time to give some players a rest.
The rotation wasnt good for the game as we lost to much Fights in the first half until we scored in the 27th minute. But my players desperately needed a rest.
The Highlight of the first half was a Long Shot from Zidan out of 30yards which banged on to the bar. That would've been a crazy goal!
In the end we won by 5:0, Hajnal got injured but will be just out for around 11 days.

The next match was against Ross Country. We took the Bus. Just before the game Real Madrid offered us 9,000,000 € for Dede which i again had to refuse.
He is one of our Key-Players! By the way we won the game 2:0.

The next station in our Scotland Tour was against FC St.Mirren. While traveling through Scotland i signed Bierhoff as addition to our Staff. The game was won by 2:1.

We stopped next in Hamilton to face Hamilton Academicals. Another easy win was expected and delivered winning by 2:0 letting half of the 2nd Team play.

Our final and last test brought us back to the land-based Europe into the country of the Dutchies. We had to play against FC Haarlem.
The game ended wih a comfortable 8:0 win with Barrios scoring a hattrick and seting up a goal. All players played the whole 90 minutes.
Goal of the day was by Patrick Owomoyela as he scored accidentally with a cross from far wide out. Great goal. Should've seen it!

We scored 24 goals and conceded 2 for the whole Pre-Season.
I really hope we can get 1-2 our 2 Players the next week and get the chance to sell Hille and Großkreutz. I really need a cheap but good right defender.

Our next game and start of the season will be against SG Dynamo Dresden in the German DFB Pokal. But thats 12 Days ahead of us. 12 Days full of hard training to be fit and prepared for the new season.

Hello again folks!

It's me! Marco!
Much has happend since the last update. I couldnt sell anyone of my player but was able to loan out Bayram Sadrijaj and Kevin Großkreutz for a season.
I even got 525,000 € for the loan of Großkreutz.

I scouted some players and found a young right back in Madrid. But the deal couldn't get through as i couldn't raise enough money.
The bad thing is that

Opare wanted to join but isn't allowed. I'm really sorry for him!
But not mourn for Opare and concentrate on our next Match! The first official Game in my career as Manager!

We had to drive into the east to Dresden. It should've been an easy match but i was never more enraged than that day!
Dresden scored just after 37 seconds ans Nelson Valdez to score on 2 Clear Cut chances! Unbelievable!
But thanks to Hummels we could tie the game in the 27th minute with a banging header after a corner!
In the 2nd half we came better into the game than Dresden and could finally take led in the 57 minute with a goal by Zidan.
In the end we deserved the win and I am happy to be in the next Round in the German Cup.

Before the next game a pleasant message arrived me: Sebastian Kehl was finally been called upfor the German Sqauad again!
Congratulations Sebastian! In the meantime i was able to loan out another 2 Players to decrease the costs of the Club!

At the 9th of August i finally had my debut in the Bundesliga.
The game was in Cologne against the 1. FC Köln. The game was really exciting. Köln scored but we could even 20 minutes later.
After that

Petit made a bad fould and got red.
But insted attacking my team made to many mistakes and Novakovic could score a second goal because of this.
Luckily Barrios was on top Form and could even the score a 2nd time. It stayed 2:2 and we left Cologne very diappointed.

The next game was a real hammer as we had to play against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with all their Stars like

Obasi,

Ba and

Eduardo.
We had to complain a big loss. Zidan got injured against Guinea in a friendly for Egypt and is out for around 3 weeks.
Knowing this we went without much confidence into the game but tried our best.
In the end we won the game by 3:1 with goals from our youngster Le Tallec and Hummels and even Valdez could strike one for us.
However in the first half Owomoyela had to be substituted. He will be out for around 6 weeks.
I really need a another right Defender. For the moment I'll let Santana or Dede play on his position. Valdez will be out for a week too.

Heyho folks!
Before i write what has happend in the rest of august and september I , Marco Matuf, want to thank all of my supporters outide of the club.

The next game we had was against Hannover 96 in Hannover. Before the game the next fixtures for the German Cup have been chosen. We'll have to play against Erfurt a 3rd League Team in Germany.

21.08.2009 -Hannover 96 2 - 3 Borussia Dortmund
Barrios, Le Tallec, Barrios

Overall my team played very bad against Hannover but we could win 3-2 because Barrios was in top Form and scored twice for us. The other goal was scored by Le Tallec. I realy have high hopes in him. Unfortunately i have to mourn another Player. My Captain Kehl will be out for 3 weeks.
After the Match A.C. Milan offered my8,750,000 € for Kuba which i accepted as he isn't one of the players I plan with in the future.

29.08.2009 -Borussia Dortmund 0 - 2 Stuttgart

Days later against Vfb Stuttgart my hapiness about the money was gone, as we lost 0:2 to Stuttgart.

On the 3th of auagust

Kuba finally left the Club. I immediately looked for a new right defender.

The first siging was

Andrej Kramaric for 3,000,000 €. He's not a defender but a hot prospect for the future as striker and playmaker. Maybe I'll let him play some games this season already. The second signing was the finnish defender

Ville Jalasto for 800,000 €.
He isnt the Defender i really wanted but a good backup.

On the last minute of the Transfer-window i could finally sign

Opare. He'll join us for around 4,000,000 €.

12.09.2009 - Eintracht Frankfurt 1 - 2 Borussia Dortmund
Valdez, Rangelov

Bad game from both sides. Our defence couldn't handle anything today and let thorugh almost everything. But we got luck and their keeper made a big mistake and Rangelov had the chance to shoot into the empty goal and win for us.

19.09.2009 - Borussia Dortmund 1 - 2 HSV

We totally dominated the game but couldn't make our chances pay and Hamburg scored first.
Feeling the goal was undeserved my team fought back and equalised just minutes later.
My team was clearly the better one but infront of the goal my players couldn't focus and finally score. HSV got 10 shots less than us but they used their chances and finally shot the 2nd goal.
We're now on the 5th place.

22.09.2009 - FC Rot-Weiss Erfurt 0 - 2 Borussia Dortmund
Barrios, Sahin(pen.)

It was as expected an easy game but my team just couldn't score. Again!
Wa had to wait untill the 65th minute when Barrios finally scored.

26.09.2009 - Werder Bremen 2- 3 Borussia Dortmund

It was a close and exciting match and both teams were similar strong.
Both first goals of us were own goals. The second from Kramaric(His debut goal by the way!) really relieved us but unfortunately bremen came back and the game was even again.
My substitutions of Zidan and Hajnal were key as Valdez could score in extra time. He came for Hajnal.
No one thought we will win this in the end because Hummels got injured and we had to play the last 10 minutes with one man less. It seems he'll be out for around a month.

So this was September for us.

If u try to sell Dede, most of them would be unhappy and even the fans as well. Even though he's 31 (i think), he's still a great player.
Stuttgart is a tough team to beat and beware of Schalke also. Cheers! (H)

well my dortmund story: played 4 seasons into the 5th now.
achievements. 4th, 10th 2nd and 6th in the bundesliga. won the german cup the 3rd season 3-2 against bayern.
finished 3rd in the champions league group after inter and lyon. btw. beat lyon 1-0. euro league playoffs. reached quarter finals. got knocked out against BAYERN. 5-1 aggregate. humiliating. on the way beat man city 3-2 aggregate. (man city had won previously 2 years in the row the euroleague title.) so nothing to be ashamed of.

currently: my staff include nico kovac, roy makaay and patrick kluivert.
my scuad: GK: weidenfeller, höttecke, DEF: tasci, rausch, subotic, hummels, schmeltzer, felipe santana, dede, demel, daeseliere MID: kehl, bender, sahin, le tallec, kringe, kevin, carlos eduardo, vukosavljevic, ATT: grosskreuz, bruns, barrios, neymar and i'm playing short passing game with a controlling mentality. sightly deep defensive line and a narrow widh. formation is 4-1-2-1-2 (narrow)

quality players, as you can see. i tend to struggle with injuries, so i need a bunch of class a players on the squad.

this season: currently 7 games played in the bundesliga. won all of them. biggest win was against hannover 4-1 at home. europa league. lost 1-0 away at PSV, won 2-1 against saturn. second round of the german cup got drawn against wolfsburg. knocked them out on extra time. grosskreuz the scorer. next game in the league against bayern. not a good history with them. lost 8 games out of 11 with a goal difference of -13.

it's going quite well. i don't score much, but i usually am able to keep a clean sheet and bigger amount of posession, so...
