BREAKING NEWS:
Ex England foward Ryan Stubbs has been installed as League Two side Bradford City's new manager. The Interview:

Sky Sports News: This being your first managerial job, what are you hoping to achieve?
Ryan Stubbs: Well firstly, Bradford City is a big club in a small league. You only have to look at the ground, training set up here at the club to realise that the club should be playing football at a higher level and i intend to make that happen. Its going to take some time but i hope to achieve promotion to at least the Championship before my time as manager of this club is over.

Football League Website: Bradford being one of the bigger teams in League Two, there is a lot expected of them, how will you ensure that the club does what is expected of them?
Ryan Stubbs: Everyone in League Two wants to beat Bradford. Everyone expects Bradford to be right up there in the running for promotion at the end of the season and i intend to meet them expectations come end of the season.

Bradford City Website: Have you any players in mind which you would like to bring in to the club?
Ryan Stubbs: There are many players i would love to add to the squad. With the likes of Notts County having a wealth of money to spend though, it will be hard to bring in some certain players as we do not have the spending power as them and some other teams in this league. I am how ever confident a few new faces will be brought in either on loan or maybe so freebies, only time will tell.

Transfer Update

Just a quick transfer update, i am half way through pre-season and already have brought in a few player to boaster my squad for the up and coming season.

Former Notthingham Forest midfielder, Aaron Davies joined on a free transfer after being released by the Championship club. Davies who cost Notthingham £1Million from Yeovil just 2 seasons ago will be vital member of my squad for the season ahead.

Young Premier League players such as Chelsea's Jacob Mellis and Julio Eduardo Santa Cruz of Blackburn Rovers have both joined on 6 month loans with a view to extend the loans till the end of the season.

On a sad note, young Wolverhampton Wanderers left back George Friend has signed on loan till the end of the season. Despite putting in a man of the match performance in the first friendly match against Barnsley, in the following match against Werder Bremen, the youngster was on the wrong end of a dangerous tackle from attacker Eden Dzeko which left George with a broken leg. After seeing the club doctor, it was anounced that George would be out for between 10 and 12 months. Therefore the loan contract was terminated.

George Friend's season seems to be over before it begins.

More updates to follow.

Glad to see a City story on here :D will be following, and if you want a free solid CB I'd go for Lucien Mettemo :)

Will deffinately be following :D

i had you in mind mate when starting this :) lol

as for a solid center back, i have signed Tommy Elphick from Brighton for £3,000 so hopefully a good partnership between him and Zesh can form :) terrible news about George Friend though, had him on loan on another save and was very consistent!

Ah, glad to hear that :D hopefully a good partnership can form :) and yeah, unfortunate to hear that :S

Pre-Season Review:

With pre-season over and the league season fast approaching, Bradford City fans will be getting ready after a mixed pre-season. With a few good results and a few not so good results and some new faces brought in, the start of the new season can't come quick enough. Players such as ex Notthingham Forest midfielder Aaron Davies who signed on a free transfer will be seen as the main man in this youthful Bradford City side. Davies who had cost Forest £1Million from Yeovil only two seasons ago is sure to make a real impace at this level after proving himself at the two levels above. Other signings such as Chelsea academy attackive midielder Jacob Mellis and Blackburn striker Julio Eduardo Santa Cruz will also give the squad some extra depth and some Premier League talent.

Gaffer's Views:
After a mixed pre-season, i am looking foward to the start of the football league season next weekend starting with a difficult away game against, many people's fravorites for promotion, Notts County. I am happy with the players i have been able to brought in. I am however disapointed with Michael Ricketts, after doing so well for us in a couple of matchies, a contract was offered but he turned us down. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish George Friend all the best after breaking his leg whilst playing for us in a friendly. Which bring me on to the friendly results. I am a bit disapointed with some of the performances we showed during the pre-season but in my views, pre-season is a time to regain match fitness and sharpness and for the team to gell and that is what has happened so i am pleased with that. That leaves me to say, i hope your all well and looking foward to the new season as much as i am. UP THE BANTAMS

The Big Kick Off!

Bradford City's first game of the season was away at Medow Lane to high spenders Notts County.

Notts County 2-0 Bradford City
HUGHES (pen)
BUTLER

Attendance: 8587

After a good start to the match, Bradford City manager Ryan Stubbs will be left disapointed to how his side finished the game. For 80 minutes there was nothing to choose between the two sides. Bradford City's on loan striker Julio Eduardo Santa Cruz wasted a golden chance when Ricky Holmes laid the ball on a plate for the young center foward but he could only put the ball wide. Notts County fans will tonight be thanking keeper Kasper Schmeichel for making several high profile saves to deny Santa Cruz and Michael Flynn. From the resulting corner, Schmeichel then pulled off a wonderful double save from defender Zesh Rehamn first from a header then from the rebound. Bradford would count the cost of that miss as within 10 minutes, Zesh Rehman fouled Luke Rodgers in the box earning himself a yellow card and a injury. Lee Hughes confidently slotted the penalty past Matt Glennon to give Notts County the lead much against the run of play. From that moment on Notts County controlled the game and 2 minutes in to added time, Thomas Butler on his debut headed the ball in to an empty net after Glennon completely missed the ball after a corner. So the match finished 2-0 to Notts County but despite the result, the Bradford City manager can be pleased with the way his team performed.

Bradford City Line Up:
Matt Glennon,
Simon Ramsden, Zesh Reman (c) Tommy Elphick, Stephen O'Halloran,
Ricky Holmes, Stephen O'Leary, Jacob Mellis(sub 81), Aaron Davies,
Julio Eduardo Santa Cruz, Gareth Evans(sub 77)

Michael Flynn(sub 81), James Hanson(sub 77)

August Review

Bradford City manager Ryan Stubbs will be forgiven for wanting to forget about the month of August in a hurry as his Bradford side picked up 5 points out of 15. Defeat on the opening day to Notts County was followed by a first round exit in the Carling Cup by Championship side Nottingham Forest. The month then got worse when captain Zesh Rehman was ruled out for up to 4 weeks. A victory over Port Vale and draws too Cheltenham Town and Lincoln City were followed by a defeat away to Torquay.

August Results:

Bradford City 0-1 Nottingham Forest (Carling Cup Round One)

On a cold, rainy night in Bradford, Nottingham Forest in front of the Sky Sports progressed to round two of the Carling Cup thanks to a last minute winner by Joe Garner. Attendence: 8273

Bradford City 2-0 Port Vale (Coca-Cola League Two)
BOULDING
SANTA CRUZ

After two defeats in the opening two games, Bradford finally got their first win of the season at home to Port Vale. Goals from substitution Michael Boulding and on loan striker Julio Eduardo Santa Cruz wrapped up all three points in a good performance. Attendence: 12,216

Bradford City 1-1 Lincoln City (Coca-Cola League Two)
MELLIS

On loan Chelsea midfielder Jacob Mellis opened the scoring after 10 minutes for the home side who had much of the play throughout the game but some sloppy defending allowed Paul Connor to earn an unlikely point for Lincoln.
Attendence: 10,944

Cheltenham Town 0-0 Bradford City (Coca-Cola League Two)

A disapointing match where neither side looked liked grapping a goal in a game where both defences where on top. Attendence: 4023

Torquay United 1-0 Bradford City (Coca-Cola League Two)

Bradford City slumped to their first home defeat off the season at to Torquay. The Cornwall side had the better of the game from start to finish and could have won by more than 1 goal. Attendence: 12492

Michael Boulding and team mates celebrate his goal during the 2-0 win against Port Vale

Gaffer's View's:

It's not been an ideal start to the new season and taking only 5 points from a possible 15 is something we have to address. The performance so far havent been too bad but are concentration levels need to improve after letting in a few goals in the final 10 minutes or so in the match. Hopefully the next month will bring us more success. UP THE BANTAMS

Rotherham United vs Bradford City (JP Trophy North Round One)

Bradford City go marching on on on!

Bradford City tonight rolled into the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after a victory over local rivals Rotherham United at the Don Valley Stadium

Rotherham United 1-1 Bradford City (4-2 on penalties)
MELLIS
HANSON (pen)
BOULDING (pen)
DAVIES (pen)
ELPHICK (pen)

Attendence: 1674

After a nervy start and conceding an 18th minute goal from summer transfer target, Ian Sharpes, Bradford City went on to turn it around to win 4-2 on penalties in a close encounter. The game had all the hype in around the Yorkshire area with these two rivals squaring up to eachother and the game didn't disappoint. On the 34th minute, Rotherham United's defender Nick Fenton lost his call and brought down Jacob Mellis with a two footed lunge which earned him a striaght red. Rotherham United tried to hold on to the 1-0 lead and keeper Andy Warrington made smart saves to deny Julio Eduardo Santa Cruz and Simon Ramsden. After the break, Bradford came out all guns blazing and finally broke the Rotherham resistance with Jacob Mellis continueing to impress, scored from a power strike from 36 yards. Rotherham United then had a fantastic chance to win the game with minutes to go but Matt Glennon saved from close range to deny first Adam Le Fondre and Paul Warne. The match went to penalties with both Bradford missing their first and Rotherham United scored but Rotherham went on to miss their next two allowing Bradford City to take the lead 2-1. Tom Pope then missed his penalty and Aaron Davies converted his penalty to send the Bantams through to the second round.

Bradford City Line Up:
Matt Glennon,
Simon Ramsden(c), Tommy Elphick, Matthew Clarke, Stephen O'Halloran,
Aaron Davies, Stephen O'Leary(sub 84), Jacob Mellis, Michael Boulding,
Rhys Murphy(sub 64), Julion Eduardo Santa Cruz

Jamies O'Brien(sub 84) James Hanson(sub 64)

Bradford City have been awarded with an away game in the second round with another Yorkshire club in Huddersfield Town.

glad to see City beat Rotherham, and huddersfield in next round.. not an easy game, but hopefully you can do it :)

Due to what ever reason, my fm game has decided to stop working (see "the help thread") so with great annoyance i will have to close this thread. Yet another story of mine which i will have to close, i think i should just stop doing stories because something always goes wrong.
