Blackpool: From the Premier League to having eight players, no manager, no chairman and 10 points deducted!

The new Football League season is a month away and most clubs are putting the finishing touches to their squads for the forthcoming season. All but one... Blackpool!

The former Premier League club, who were mixing it with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool three seasons ago, are in complete turmoil.
Since the end of last season, 27 players have left, leaving the club with only eight first-team players registered, and after ongoing protests from Blackpool fans, newly appointed Manager Jose Riga and Chairman Karl Oyston have both decided to step down with immediate effect.

This has left the seaside club in a state of disbelief, and to top it all off, The Football League has issued a 10 point deduction for breaching financial rules. The sanction will be in place for the forthcoming season and the club has until the end of the week if they wish to appeal.

Sadler: Blackpool confirm rookie as manager

James Sadler has been confirmed as the new manager of Championship club Blackpool.

The 30-year-old Englishman has signed a one-year rolling deal at Bloomfield Road and will be unveiled by the club at a news conference later on this week. This is Sadler's first managerial job, having spent the last 5 years in the backroom staff at Southampton FC. Blackpool, who are currently in administration, have alot of hard work to do before the start of the new campaign and the new manager is said to be excited in his role.

"We (Blackpool) are in a very difficult situation at the moment, however I believe, with time, we will get out of it..." He went on to say; "I am overwhelmed with the support I have been given by the fans, especially as this is my first managerial job. This season will be a roller-coaster, no doubt, but I will use all the experience I have gained in other roles to help lift this club back to the heights of the Premier League."
