I have recently decided to abandon my beloved Nottingham Forest save and try a challenge: managing Taunton in the Vanarama National League South. I did a bit of research on how to survive in the lower leagues and everyone seems to suggest that the best way to make do is by getting as many loan players in as possible. The problem that I have is that I simply can't get anyone.

I have £0.00 as a transfer budget and I'm spending £3,729.00 out of a £3729.00 wage budget so any loan player has to come in free. However, the only free loan players are worse than the players that I have.

A second and very much related problem is that everyone seems to think that you need a big squad to survive in the lower leagues because of fixture congestion. At the start of the season, I have a squad of exactly 18 players, one of whom is injured.

Any suggestions?
